1962 - The Boston Celtics defeat the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games to win the NBA championship. Bill Russell scored 30 points and recorded 40 rebounds in the final game which secured a fourth consecutive championship for the Celtics.
1963 - The Toronto Maple Leafs defeat the Detroit Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup.
1964 - Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers becomes the first pitcher to strike out the side on just nine pitches.
