Why don't you lot of football geniuses name for me a championship football team recently that couldn't run the ball. I'll wait.
We sure did...We had a couple grand opportunities with excellent field position. Just didn't convert.
We sure did...
It seems like Some of the decisions Riley makes will either make him look like a genius or a goat. Too many times they have backfired.
Please stop comparing anything about our (or any other college) team to elite professionals. Apples and oranges.
Who said anything about not being able to run the ball? I thought this thread was bout how we have to run 100% of the time because Memorial stadium is the only place on the planet with 100mph wind every game. The elite NFL teams also have solid running games. Re-watch that Pats-Colts AFC Title game and remind me whether Blount had 200+ yards rushing.
Seattle with multiple Super Bowl appearances, and one of the best RBs in football.
GA Tech. should be in the playoffs every year with this logic.Yeah and they won several national championships.
I agree. I'm the one that said TA wasn't a consistent or accurate passer above, but you lose everything when you compare anything we have to the best of the best at the pro level. If you want to say the wind isn't a factor, you could have simply pointed out that in each of the last 2 games, both opposing QB's had significant higher completion percentages with the same wind (and arguably worse receivers).I get that. I just don't think weather is a good enough excuse to blame our passing problems. I think that once we get a better passer in there, we're going to complete more balls. Windy or not. I'm not dogging on TA with this statement, or saying that a run game isn't important (that would be foolish). I just think that things will change for the better when we have someone back there can deliver in the pocket more with more consistence.
If they played any defense.GA Tech. should be in the playoffs every year with this logic.

My desire to see the Huskers run the ball more has nothing to do with weather, or tradition, or TO's blueprint for success. I just don't think they have the personnel right now, especially at QB, to beat many (or perhaps any) good opponents with an offense that's this pass-heavy. While it's true that this staff inherited a crappy O-line and an unproven stable of RBs, I still believe they would have a better chance at salvaging some wins this season with a balanced offensive game plan, as opposed to what we've watched over the past few weeks. And if NU can't develop a great running game, at least try to be competent enough at running the ball that you can finish a drive once in a while or pick up a first down when you need to protect a lead.
That doesn't seem like an unreasonable expectation, though I'm sure some here will read it as, OMG OMG OMG OMG WHY DON'T WE JUST RUN THE BALL EVERY SINGLE DOWN JUST LIKE T.O. DID AND ESPECIALLY WITH JANO CUZ HE'S OUR BEST PLAYER AND WE SHOULD NEVER EVER THROW THE BALL AGAIN - EVER.
I never said anything about NU being a pass first team. I like any football player/fan know the importance of a running game. I'm just not going to blame our passing woes on weather.
What do you want to change the offense to? Do you want to be more like Wiscy or Arkansas? Or back to the 90s power/option attack? Or would you like to see a pro-style North Dakota State offense like Craig Bohl ran? I lean toward the NDSU attack.
Why don't you lot of football geniuses name for me a championship football team recently that couldn't run the ball. I'll wait.
97 NU. Mediocre throwing at best. Why don't you name a recent national champion that couldn't throw the ball?
97 NU. Mediocre throwing at best.
and that makes it untrue that they were a running team that could barely pass or.........The year our current freshman class was born.

How about Florida with Tim Tebow? Bigtime precision passer was he?
Or was it insufficient that I already pointed out that Ohio State and Alabama, who have won 4 of the last 5 titles, are run-first teams? The fifth team, Florida State, had a couple of RBs you may have heard of lately...Devonta Freeman and Karlos Williams, both in the NFL. They averaged over 200 rushing yards per game as a team.
Should we continue this amazingly stupid argument some more, or did somebody want to shift it to suggesting that you don't need a good defense to win a title?
I prefer the power O\ Option attack. Still can run some pro sets.
But a mobile QB is a must.
I really like Baylors Qb.
You no read too good, huh? I went through the last 5, plus some others just for fun-sies.RECENT
