Is the buyout number north of $10M still?
I believe he would be owed 15 million if he is fired at the end of the year
4 years remaining at 3.5 million per year + two 500K bonuses due in 24 and 25
thanks - good find
However, Tim Miles had more success than Fred Hoiberg and Tim was shown the door. I don't get all the love for Fred when he has an even worse record than Barry Collier.I think this is his best team. There seems to be more cohesion and not one guy trying to do it all. It’s been a team effort, and they play good defense. However, it’s still a bad shooting team with no legit big man. I thought there’d be more progress than what we’ve seen this far in Fred’s tenure. I like Fred. But I’m still on the fence. Like some, ask me at the end of the season if I think he should stay.
Tominaga you might think but look at his shooting percentage. Than again, look down the bench. Big recruiting misses!!!!!!Overall agree, but I would say that Tominaga has been deadly off the bench.
I think "all the love for Fred" is a pretty huge exaggeration. I get more a feeling of "we suck, we'll always suck, meh, whatever." Most people I've seen that think this is Fred's best team seem pretty grounded in the reality that we're still pretty terrible. Capable of a fun/big win here and there but no threat to go anywhere in March other than home. However, Tim Miles had more success than Fred Hoiberg and Tim was shown the door. I don’t know what the right thing is for basketball anymore.I think "all the love for Fred" is a pretty huge exaggeration. I get more a feeling of "we suck, we'll always suck, meh, whatever." fold it and bring on UNL HockeyI don’t know what the right thing is for basketball anymore.
There are many who believe TJ O. was the reason for Fred's success at Iowa State. They may not be wrong.Fred is the type of head coach and human being that UNL would like to have representing their University and Athletic Dept. He is figuring out what it takes to be competitive in the BIG night in and night out. Like defense, rebounding and mental/physical toughness. He has observed the success of his former asst. and cohort TJ at Iowa Stae using that formula. Now he just needs to find the right type of player that fits that mold. If he does that he will be at UNL for quite some time. He is a lot smarter and not stubborn like Frost. And Trev would like to have him around.

This. Revisit in a year. Fred’s buyout will be less and Bruce Weber can be had if on a limited budget.Trev has sunk a lot of money into football in the past 6 months. I think unless Fred does something Mickey-esque, Trev will roll with him until the buyout becomes more palatable.
We already had this with Miles.. it was beyond dumb to fire him.I think as long as NU basketball is no longer laughably bad and can make the tournament every few years Fred will be kept.

Ha! Might otherwise opine that Fred doesn’t seem to have any major coaching deficiencies like those have haunted our last several football coaching staffs… his biggest issue just seems to be getting talented players to come out and play for Nebraska. It’s always gonna be a tough sell…Thanks Fred.
Oh, I don’t think there’s a lot of love for him. I’m just tired of switching coaches all the damn time. But after that performance with Illinois, I’m closer to wanting him out. However, Tim Miles had more success than Fred Hoiberg and Tim was shown the door. I’m willing to see what unfolds but no question last night was a major disappointment but it showed us when certain players get in foul trouble the whole first half how limited we really are..Oh, I don’t think there’s a lot of love for him. I hope Fred can convince the Colorado 2023 combo forward/maybe spot center to come to Nebraska.
No, of course he's not leaving. Nobody wants him.Hoiberg's contract extends through the 2026-27 season
Hoiberg receives a 500K bonus in 2024 and 2025 for not leaving
