I know Mickey’s trying to protect his players and putting it all on him as head coach but you can’t tell me that Reimer and with Henrich was back this game you have Ty Robinson Garrett Nelson and you’re telling me these people don’t know how to fit in gaps all of a sudden? bullcrap
when they did last year? Or at least better than this year.
If it was a gap integrity issue, then we would see players like Ty Robinson and Garrett Nelson when they’re in there and Colton Feist Henrich and Reimers they would be most likely doing a better job than the replacements but they aren’t
What is clear to me Is that the gaps are getting blown up so much on the defensive line that the gaps too huge for any linebacker to fill they’re too wide-open for a running back to make a move they’re just getting blown off the ball pushed around locked and loaded with nobody getting off a block And or the defensive lineman or not keeping the off lineman from getting to next level and off the linebackers
So to me it’s all the people surrounding them we are simply getting manhandled we’re not strong enough we’re not quick enough with her hands and feet to get off blocks.
I remind people of every single press conference in 2002 with their first losing season under Solićh or first non-winning …..I call it losing season because the seven wins included div 1 aa team.
But if anybody remembers that season and every press conference after every loss Solich said over and over
“we just didn’t execute”
when it’s one week that’s one thing when it’s over and over a week after week it means simply codeword for
another way of saying you’re not good enough you don’t have the talent you don’t have the speed you’re getting out athleted and that’s exactly what’s happening now.
simply put my believe Damon Benning kind of alluded to this in his breakdown about what the coaches are going to be able to do in the next of 10 weeks it’s going to be very limited because paraphrasing but basically ““
“we don’t have enough dudes necessary on D especially front 7 to put in there and really change the game significant to the up side”
. As I said not enough playmakers we can make a little bit of difference I think they playing some of the more athletic back ups but it’s not gonna be night and day.
So I think people really need to understand that before they point the finger at our head coach
