It has to be over for Riley the day after the Iowa game. He just can't deliver and he's proven that at every level, with every level of resources.
And spare me the "Pelini left the team a mess and the cupboard bare" crap. Pelini wasn't the answer to us winning conference titles, but we would have won 9-10 games in each of the past 3 years under Pelini if he had been retained. He also would have brought in some JUCOs that would have helped the past 3 teams be competitive (Henry, Kinnie, David, Hardrick, Jean-Baptist, Gomes, Stafford, Anderson, Seisey, Gregory, Cockrell types). Honest truth, I'm not too sure that his Youngstown State team wouldn't give this Husker team all it wanted.
I was against and still disagree with firing Solich and agreed that Pelini needed to go, for a lot of reasons. But what we have here now is Bill Callahan again without Bill Callahan's 2006 success. It's 2007 again, and the football gods are pouring their wrath all over us.
If you're going to fire a 9-10 win coach, you better have your s*** together and hire a winner. When you don't, ADs get fired along with the coach they hired.
