I always love that phrase because it's inaccurate and honestly it feels like the guy who won't talk to a girl because she might say no and laugh at him.
The correct phrase is, "We won't pay enough for them to come here" which sadly, is probably true based on our pathetic recent past attempts at hiring. The reality is, every coach and I mean EVERY coach probably has a price. Take Belichick for example. "He's not coming here"...what if we paid him $50 mil per year? We won't and it would be asinine to do it (I'm genuinely curious on a cost analysis of that though if it brought us championships LOL), but there IS a price.
I like Scott, but I just for once want us to act like we're a program who has top 10-15 money and go get someone. Take that shiny new $20-25 mil we're getting next year and take it for a spin. You're telling me that if we went out and spent $10 mil on a guy who built the program into a modern day powerhouse, Scott wouldn't come home 5-10 years from now, even if he's in the swamp? Absolutely he would.
So...take the popular list of coaches and maybe we canguess assign the price tags to each to see what it would take. This way we can look at it like a menu at a restaurant. Is the price tag worth the taste...
