GBR23 had a lot of balls in the air in 2005. He had recently began dating who would be his future wife, that through various life-altering steps led to a move in 2006 to the great state of North Carolina.
October 1st, 2005, unbeknownst to GBR23 at the time, would be his last attended home football game for 12 years. Life got in the way and with Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays usually meaning return trips to The Good Life, trips back earlier in September or October just never made sense. On that fateful day, we saw Zac Taylor have somewhat of a coming out party. A few weeks prior we watched the offensive gem of that instant Pitt/NU classic that ended in a 7-6 victory, but versus ISU Taylor showed us some things of what was to come in 2006: 36-55, 431 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs. My head was swimming at the number of attempted passes, but unlike in previous games and the season prior, this was actually resulting in something resembling an effective offense. I sat in the North end zone with some friends and remember vividly the entire day.
Flash forward to 07October2017, 4,389 days since I last set foot inside the stadium, I shall make my return. It will probably be an emotional experience for me; if you see someone visibly shaking or approaching tears during the introductions, it may very well be yours truly.
