When it comes to cooking up a college championship caliber football team many schools have a lot of the same ingredients including but not limited to huge stadiums, gigantic scoreboards, humongous weight rooms, tech gimmick locker rooms, academic centers, hot coeds, etc. Nebraska has all those ingredients with first class seasoning which in itself puts us in the upper echelon of college football.
But there's 2 other things which give us the chance to have hope in serving up an appetizing championship.
1. We have the Secret Sauce. You can see & smell the sauce cooking in the record breaking sell-outs, thousands showing up for FNL this summer, twitter tweeting, etc. But the sauce becomes heavenly when you see the Husker Nation Family compassion poured out for Sam Foltz, when a RSS member loses a loved one, our fan & TEAM's support for another team we're playing who is going through a tragedy (i.e. UCLA's Nick Pasquale), etc. You can cook with substitutes but nothing is as good as the real ingredients. Our fans, TEAM and culture are the real deal home grown ingredients.
2. Dr. O was a master chef in he knew how to assemble & mix all the right ingredients and the right temperature to cook and present the perfect championship meal. With Frank, Cally & Bo we've had some coaches who were good at cooking a few dishes but couldn't put the whole meal together. Last year started a little rough as MR was looking through the cupboard & farmers market for all the ingredients and getting used to the big, fancy Husker kitchen.
But watching the improved Huskers vs UCLA in the bowl game, the impressive new commits & scheduled official visits, the compassion for the Sam Foltz family & the TEAM, etc. makes you feel pretty good that we may have ourselves another Master Chef to mixup the Secret Sauce and cook Husker Nation up a championship meal to feast on.
Ring the dinner bell. The TEAM is hungry. Time to bring the vittles. GBR!
