Who is out there?

It could be somebody in the NFL who’s willing to move to college to make a name for himself. It’s risky, because it’s an experiment that could end in one and done. Probably have to pay 2, million and guarantee three years. Not a lot of money for the right guy..

The big question is whether or not we think the Raiola experiment is worth continuing. he’s basically our franchise quarterback, and that scares the crap out of me. Sitting the $2 million man is not a good look when the guys behind him are unproven as well . His style of quarterbacking is out of vogue. it basically went away with Tom Brady. The last two alive are probably Kirk cousins and Joe Flacco. He’s zero threat to pick up first down with his feet. I think we are ****ed. Having a hard time imagining a scenario where this really turns around, unless you commit to throwing it fewer than 20 times per game and just running downhill.

Wonder if Zac Taylor would be interested if he gets fired by the Bengals.
I think he’s safe this year. Bengals problem is idiotic ownership and the front office. He will eventually take the fall for them, though.

No NFL guys no thank you.

Rhule needs to get an OC from a college program that has very good players that the OC can bring with him.

This program hitched its wagon to Raiola all the way back in 2022, and all Rhule did was pick up right where Frost left off by retaining Donovan. There’s so many moving parts to this it just makes your head spin that Nebraska gambled its future on one recruit. I have no ill will towards DR, I just doubt this marriage is still in the best interest of either party.

An NFL hire would scare me that he might bring along an 8" thick playbook - too much to absorb in college.

If we bring in a currently successful college OC can we also bring in the majority of his players with NIL for the transition period? 😎

Only NFL OC I’d really want is Todd Monken and he is having too much success and probably won’t leave for anything but a HC job in the NFL. Few guys I like in CFB are Dirk Cutter, Jordan Davis from North Texas (also specializes in WRs) and Jason Beck at New Mexico. Also like Shannon Dawson but I’m not sure we can get him away from Miami.

But those are some names I’d be looking at if I were Rhule.

Agree. You can’t be over leveraged on one player. The risk of that falling apart is just too great. What are the odds we’re going to see Danny Kaelin given a legitimate shot at the job? Very low I’d say.

Me. You pay me 500k and fire me at the end of the year.

Someone that knows how to run power football

He doesn't do a good job motivating his team, as seen in the first half of yesterday's game.
It’s like they’ve been puffed up all week in practice and then come into the game way overconfident and underprepared. It’s one thing when you’re kicking the crap out of every team and you come out flat., but this is a lousy team in a lot of ways, they can’t take anything for granted and yet they do

I’d take anyone who’s had two years in a row in the NCAA Top 30 for “scoring” and “yards per play.”

I’m thinking several of those who fit could
be untouchable, but without looking, my gut tells me there’s 3-7 reasonable candidates.

First guy I'm calling is Dirk Koetter. Make him an offer he can't refuse. But he is 65, so not sure how much longer he would want to be an OC or how effective he would be beyond age 65.

Dirk would be a terrific hire. Jeantty is also a junior and while the odds are very low he isn't going pro, hiring Koetter would give us a fraction of a percent chance of getting him via the portal. Maybe a boatload of NIL money would help.

How about Todd Monken just replaces Rhule

Getting Dirk Koetter and Jeanty would be an alpha dog move. Give koetter 2.5 million a year and Jeanty a million+. (or whatever it takes) That’s the stuff dreams are made of…

IMO Jeanty would be the first RB drafted and in the first round. That means a roughly $20-34 million guaranteed contact over 4 years. Why would someone stay for a mil or two ?

But yes, Koetter running the O would be an alpha move.
So, of course Rhule won’t do it because he is a bitch. Alphas like Saban hire the best.. Rhule and other losers we hire bring their buddies
Amirite?

No way anyone gets Jeanty. He’s going pro and like you said, 1st round without question. Dirk however, I suppose is at least technically possible. But I seriously doubt we’d make that move. Makes too much sense…

Jeantty will be the first running back taken in the draft. I checked on that after posting. Assumed he'd be among the top five (which at RB can mean as low as third round). Bottom line though, he's gone though.
Boise State has a lot of tough, winner players I'd love to have though. Hiring Koetter could still help with that.

You are 100% right. I don’t think Rhule has the humility needed for greatness. It doesn’t seem to even cross his mind that he screwered with his staff. That would be admitting that he made a mistake.
