I am certainly a fan of Riley and the effort he's put into recruiting against the big boys. Also, I'm proud to have a person like him in the job after Bo often embarrassed us countless times.
Unfortunately for coach Riley, it's some of his hires that have cost him his job (most likely). Cav and Langsdorf have failed him in year 3. The Oline is unacceptable, but it's really the offensive scheme and its future. NFL QBs and NFL WRs won't (solely) amount to a lot of W's in the Big 10. 1st and 10,on the 19, up 7 in th 4th quarter. That INT can't happen.
Even USC, with all the talent in the world can't consistently score points on offense.m with the west coast scheme. The recipe to winning in college is much different than the NFL. Controlling the line of scrimmage is so much more important. You must have a dynamic running game, a dynamic defense and a QB that can make plays with his arm and his feet.
I also think that Riley and his staff have recruited really well in important areas. a majority of these underclassmen have played significant snaps for us. Whomever the coach in 2018-2020, the core talent on this team is certainly the underclassmen.
