The Great - Tommy has had better statistical games but never a better game. He and T.Frazier are the 2 most competitive, never say die quarterbacks at Nebraska. Pass defense was exceptional. Giving up less than 150 passing yards & breaking Oregon's 82 game passing td streak was amazing.

The Good - Ozigbo is special. He's not flash or lightning but he gets the 4 to 6 tough yards, gets key blocks, and doesn't turn it over. He plays within himself but gives 100%. He is the antithesis of what this team is. Michael Rose Ivey, the left side of our offensive line, & Langsdorf are really good this year. Major Kudos to them.

The Bad - Our right tackle is the weakest link on our line. Every team has a weak link even 85 Bears had 1. Nebraska just doesn't run right when it needs yards. I've rewatched every game and he isn't where we need a starting RT to be. Too much patty cake blocking, not playing thru, and on zone plays he needs to elephant block (follow the elephants tail in front of you and follow) he fails to do that. Plays too high and his footwork is lacking.

The Ugly - #42 Trey Foster should not play unless we are up by 50. Last game he missed two key blocks (missed like Shaq shooting free throws totally not even close) that would of allowed ball carrier to score and this game had a stupid penalty that cost us a first down when we needed it. Also wiffes on a lot of blocks. Seems to go after where defender is and not will be. I don't like to throw college kids under the bus but Foster is really bad on the field this year.

Nebraska has a great chance of winning the west this year. I love the heart and determination of this team. It feels great to have a staff that doesn't embarrass us, and a team that will gives us national respect again. Go Big Red!!

Langsdorf in the good category? Lost me there bro.......

I was hard on him last year, even nicknamed him LangsDork. This year he has called 3 straight great games. Is he perfect no, nobody is but he is GOOD this year. Called plays to our players strength. You don't have to agree but I sit with coaches and they are impressed with him this year.

uh, his playcalling almost lost that game. The stupid swing pass, going air nebraska late in the 3rd and early 4th when we had their defense on their heels. I wouldnt call that good. I guess i wouldnt call it bad either, since he did come thru in the end and won the game. So i guess to agree to disagree, how about " not to shabby"

Decent write up, but I'll just say that Langsdorf has a lot of room for improvement as an OC.

It's not so much that the swing pass was called, but who he put in for that play. Wilbon has played VERY little, so the result didn't shock me. When it happened, I believe my exact words were "that's when happens when you run a risky play with a kid that doesn't play much."

EDIT: I believe that play was after Newby went out with his injury. I would rather they not run that play at all if Wilbon is the only option.

I will add that Tre Bryant needs to hold onto the ball .. his talents are going to be wasted if ball security continues to be an issue

he has/had the potential to be our #2 back behind Oz as the season progresses but he isn't going to play if he continues to put the ball on the carpet

I agree, to a point... But what if this is a play that is run often in practice just for Wilbon? The pass was poorly executed, but if executed properly, his inexperience is less of a factor, if this is a play he has practiced often.

Situationally, probably not the right time to run that play, but we don't know how much time has been given to him for this particular play.

Don't understand the criticism of Langs. He's done a great job this year.

There has never been an offensive coordinator who didn't call plays that fans objected to. Hell, prior to the National Championship seasons Osborne was routinely pilloried for play calling. Even after winning back to back titles some play calling savants in the fan base savaged him for his play calling against Arizona State. The only play I objected to was the swing pass, and only because I don't think you should ever throw a backward pass unless you intend the back to pass it to someone else. Be that as it may, Langsdorf did a great job of adjusting to what Oregon was doing and navigated a hobbled starting QB really well.

FWIW, Tommy said in his PC that the swing pass was on him. He didn't drop far enough which caused it to be a backwards pass. At the time I thought it was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen but not Langsdorf fault at all.

Thanks for posting this... But I am gonna preempt those who will remind us that it was Langs who made the call, so it is his fault.

We see you (not you, strongarm517, but those who don't like Langsdorf) working... We know what you will say. Langs should not have called that play to begin with. Got it.

Just saw that, too, thanks for posting.

I still think it's a bad call to make with Wilbon. No doubt the kid is a great athlete, but he hasn't shown consistency or reliability on game day. I hope things click for him eventually.

I wasn't a fan of trying to go laterally against a team with Oregon's speed. It's only asking for trouble. At best, that play goes for minimal gain. We saw what happens at worst.

EDIT:
I can agree with you, though. They may have practiced it with Wilbon. Tommy's taking the blame for it, and I agree with his explanation of it (didn't drop back far enough). To me, it felt like a Newby play that was run with the guy whose skill set most closely matched Newby's.
