The B1G West is wide open in 2015 ...

Year 5 of Nebraska and Iowa in the same conference. How things have changed for a Hawkeye-Cornhusker family. Actually, it is more a Hawkeye-Bluejay family, but I was always a Dr. Tom fan, growing up in Eastern Iowa.

My sister in-law is up from Omaha for Oktoberfest in the Amana Colonies. We were enjoying the great weather on Saturday in Amana. When we spoke this morning, she mentioned she like Bo Pelini. I don't think it had anything to do with Mike Riley, but is it basketball season yet, as she began asking about the Bluejays. She will head to Lincoln for the Northwestern game, later this fall.

Iowa hosts Illinois for Homecoming on Saturday, while Nebraska will host a Wisconsin team looking to rebound, after another B1G opening loss. Last year, it was at Northwestern.

  • Ten years ago, Penn State won a share of the Big Ten title, with Ohio State at 7-1
  • Twenty years ago, it was the Northwestern Wildcats, with Pat Fitzgerald at LB
  • Thirty years ago, it was the Iowa Hawkeyes, with Hayden Fry, Kirk Ferentz was a OL coach
  • Forty years ago, it was the Ohio State Buckeyes
  • Fifty years ago, it was the Michigan State Spartans
  • Who wins the 2015 Big Ten title in football?

Meet who likely may be the best Big Ten defensive player in the conference in 2015.
He was very active, very impressive in Iowa's 10-6 win. Wisconsin senior OLB
Joe Schobert is playing extremely well. He gave the Hawkeyes a lot of trouble on Saturday.
While my Hawkeye friends suggest Wisconsin will not make another 7 game win, like 2014, we shall see soon enough, as the Badgers seek to rebound in the win column, as they face the Huskers, seeking to do the same.

It will be interesting to see, if Michigan can enter the Big Ten title hunt in 2015.

Coach Jim Harbaugh had an advantage over Mike Riley ... he knows the culture in Ann Arbor.

The transition from Bo Pelini to Mike Riley has been a rough one. Of course, in 2013, I had never witnessed an Iowa win in Lincoln before either. First 2-3 start, since 1959.

It is a rebuilding effort in Lincoln in 2015, but the season is far from over, one would think at 0-1? I got a chuckle from the Iowa-Nebraska chest bumping on this site. WTH http://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/t...win-over-an-fbs-team.50828/page-2#post-826859

Week 2 of October should be extremely interesting.
  • Illinois @ Iowa
  • Northwestern @ Michigan
  • Minnesota @ Purdue - I have been expecting an 0-2 start for the Golden Gophers all season
  • Wisconsin @ Nebraska

Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. saw his streak snapped at 10 consecutive games throwing a touchdown pass. He fell one shy of tying the school record of 11 consecutive games with a touchdown pass.
