The B1G Absolutely Blows This Year

there will be multiple 2-loss teams in the playoffs this year (and every year)

we will get the benefit of the doubt from the B1G loving media, too
This is one of those situations where being an ass like Bo Pelini is so different than Rhule. Media loves Rhule and now the narrative is wouldn't it be great if NU was back. Absolutely helps in a situation where humans are picking. Having a qb like DR also helps. People are going to rationalize that DR can keep us in games against the big boys. Perception absolutely matters.

As does the perception that the B1G is a good conf

One thing to remember is fan expectations play a role in all of this. If the fan base has totally accepted the fact that "we can never compete with XYZ" the AD is more than happy to keep a lame product each season.

Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Minny, Wisky, MD, Rutgers, NW and so one, the expectations of the fans are so lame that the AD doesn't have to do anything. So those teams MIGHT have that good year here and there, that "magical" 9 win season or that season where they pull off a great upset but still crap the bed vs other lame teams.

In the Big Ten you probably have 4-6 teams that actually want to win and expect it.

Rutgers and Indiana will be difficult games for us and both most likely will be unbeaten when we play them especially if the Hoosiers can beat Maryland at home.

I think reality sets in for Indiana once they play Maryland. Rutgers will be interesting if they can get passed VT and or Washington.

4 out of their 5 combined wins came against the sisters of the poor. The 5th win was against UCLA, and they are the epitome of Pac12 softness. On the other hand, NU still lacks a win over a quality opponent as well.

The Illinois game will be interesting. Typical middle-of-the-B1G team. Not sexy, but good and physical lines with a coach that usually has his team ready. Road game. Night game. Conference game. Against a 3-0 opponent. I will count that as a quality win if we get it.

We'll find out starting next week. The Illini will be our toughest test to date. Minnesota is trending up , not down. They beat Iowa next week. MSU looks good to me so far as well. Indy is the real deal and we won't win that game. Purdue is not a good team .

Isn’t Rutgers QB that Greek kid from Minn?

He stinks, so does Rutgers (obviously)

They just went on the road and beat the piss out of UCLA. They have blown out the other teams they have played. What have we done that has been better ? Why wasn't Illini rated before us after beating a ranked team ?

UCLA’s only win was a 16-13 snooze fest to an equally terrible Hawaii team. The 77 point blowout win for Indiana was against a team that hasn’t won a game in three years, and FIU currently sits at 1-2 on the year.

Friday can’t come soon enough so will know who our team really is.

We won’t find anything out on Friday

ILL is worse than CU

Will be a rout

Guess the point spread then. We have not proved we can run the ball yet and till we do....
we're not a running team

Satt is our OC, he's very pass happy

we will win easily - 2+ TDs

ILL is dogshit. zero good players. we sodomized them at their place last year

I'm not going to argue with you guys about how the Big ten sucks. It's pointless. If we win , we should have. If we lose, then we look pathetic. We need to win, against anybody. We have not separated ourselves from anybody. We have a test on Friday. I also want to see go on the road and win. I know Purdue looks bad, but I want to see us play first.

You can say that about the SEC as well. They have 4-6 teams that compete for nattys. The rest are mid to garbage.

Did not read whole thread so maybe somebody else already mentioned this..but in a shitty conference, we've fit in nicely. Gawd we've been arguably the worst combined mens sports program in the country.

I believe Mich State is trending up. They are 3-0 now and look improved . Though the next 3 weeks will tell us all we need to know can they compete with OSU and Oregon.
