Thank you Riley, but it is time for Scott Frost

That is absurd to compare Scott Frost to Joe Maddon. One has had years of success and the same level and a world championship. The other has 1 year of coaching experience and it's not power 5.

Didn't we say that Nebraska shouldn't be a place where a coach learns on the job? Wasn't that a lot of people's negative on coach Bo?

BTW, I have heard Scott Frost brought up for exactly 1 job. No national talk. I think people are jumping the gun on Frost and it's getting old.

Our losing Beaver machine is getting old. Very Old.

Let's get Frost!!

Frost is a legit head coach. UCF would be favored against Nebraska if they played. That is all that needs to be said about the differences of where each program is at.

It is time to bring Scott Frost to Nebraska. There isn't a defense in the B1G West that would be able to defend a Frost offense on a yearly basis. None of the B1G West schools recruit the type of size, speed and defensive lineman to compete against a Frost offense on a yearly basis.

The difference that I see from Chip's offense and what Forst is doing is that Frost does more hat on hat and pulling and less zone blocking.

It is time to do the smart thing for the first time in 15 years.

Yes, i like this.

As I have stated previously, in normal circumstances, I am in favor of giving Riley another season. But I truly believe that Frost is a unique case that is foolish for Nebraska to wait for.

It is ultimately a gamble either way. If you wait until he's "ready" it may be too late. If you hire him he may not be legit. These are big boy decisions and I'm providing my point of view. I believe now is the time for Frost to lead Nebraska.

Timing is everything in life. It may decide who you marry and spend your whole life with. It may decide your career and some of your success in that. You might be the guy that misses the plane that crashes because your get stuck in traffic. Timing is everything and IMO the timing is off for Frost and NU. We'll see what happens but IMO the constant pining for Frost is unseemly.

Did you think the timing was off for Herman and Texas?

Wow-somebody wants Scott Frost! Color me shocked-I never would have guessed! You're really going out on a limb with that one.
Just how many threads do we have to start for people to say pretty much the exact same thing?
It doesn't appear we are getting anywhere close the number of threads we have experienced making excuses for the one we have. I guess its the nature of the board and you pick and choose which you want to read.

Oh-I get a little angry when people go out of their way to praise other teams(Texas no less!) for things and they can't give YOUR OWN TEAM CREDIT for doing essentially the same thing, if not better. Iowa State had 256 yards of offense and 7 points. Illinois had 199 yards of offense and 6 points. The first is DOMINATING on defense, but the second is apparently nothing special. Explain that one to me.
Actually you were angry long before the Texas name came up in this thread so I'm not buying that is your issue.

Just go grab Frost now. Its just $10 million that would need to be paid for buyouts. No big deal.

Nope. Charlie was gone one way or another that year when those wheels started turning. Riley still has a chance of having a decent season so all the speculation right now doesn't seem right for me. That's why I said, "we'll see". Maybe we crash and burn in the conference and a new AD decides to do something. Right now though, Rimington isn't going to be that guy and there is no guarantee a new AD will be either. That's why I say, the timing might be bad right now for NU and Frost. I like Scott Frost and think he appears to be a very bright young coach. I liked his parents and thought they were tremendous high school coaches. IMO, I'm not sure he's done enough, BUT IF for some reason MR fails miserably this year, I would have no problems with NU hiring Frost. IMO, it's wrong to openly campaign for him right now though because by doing that I think you are openly campaigning for MR to fail.

You obviously haven't watched ONE second of film. You can tell when you are watching a well-coached team, and I've seen a well-coached team when I've watched UCF games. I highly encourage you to go to YouTube and watch entire games, and see the evolution of UCF over the last year and a half.

I do think that we need to be keeping in close touch with Frost's management throughout the year. If indeed we do need to make a change at the end of the year, I think Frost would be an excellent choice.

Not surprising. We haven't seen a "well coached" team in Lincoln since, when, Solich?

I'm wondering if any of the "next great coach"es have failed when they finally got their big chance.

@Hoosker Du read thread title and OP.

I'll proceed to tag you in other threads as well.

And what exactly does this prove? That some people support Frost, and some support Riley? So...100% of the people in this forum don't agree?? Really?? No way!! Well slap my back and f'ing color me surprised!!

But it was only Illinois! And when we beat Purdue, people will say, it was only Purdue! They only scored 10 points against the only decent defense they faced! Calling it now.

How about we see if we can beat Wisconsin first? If we can take them down, it will increase my confidence in Riley and his staff a great deal. We just beat two of the B1G's punching bags, which is great and all, but the stakes get a lot bigger next weekend.

As much as others on this board think I'm rooting against Riley, nothing would make me happier than seeing him get a win over his protege. I've said on numerous occasions that I would love to see Mike Riley retire from Nebraska on his terms, but that doesn't mean that I have full confidence that he will be able to. Simply put, he has to win the games to be afforded that option.

Thank you for the clarification. For the record, I'm absolutely not campaigning for MR to fail. I like the guy a lot. In 98 out of 100 circumstances, I want him to return next season as long as he pulls off a .500 record this year. I am just looking at the past 20 years of failed attempts to get the "right" guy leading this team and I think that "right" guy might be just blazing trails at UCF right now. Some coaches have the "it" factor. Chris Pedersen had it at Boise State and it showed up in Washington quickly. While I'm not anointing row-the-boat PJ Fleck as a home run, he seems to bring a personality and energy that will give Minnesota an identity. I've said the same about Herman at Houston (now Texas). Jim Harbaugh is "it" for Michigan. I think Riley was a) needed and b) a good coach, and c) was maybe the best guy to rid the program of bad apples and us vs. them attitude. I think he has gotten the program into much higher talent skill positions than the previous coaching staff was able to get. All in, I actually give Riley a passing performance. I just think the time might be right (at the end of the year, sans an 8-4 record) to go to Frost.

These are simply my opinions. I'm not claiming fact or right vs. wrong. Take it for what it's worth.

Couldn't have said it better. My thoughts exactly. Would love to see Riley do well, but I'm not certain it's going to happen. If it doesn't happen for him, I think Frost would be a great choice to succeed him.

I guess I'll never understand why Riley and Pelini aren't both bad HCs at Nebraska? Can someone please explain why they aren't mutually exclusive? TIA.
