Frost is a legit head coach. UCF would be favored against Nebraska if they played. That is all that needs to be said about the differences of where each program is at.

It is time to bring Scott Frost to Nebraska. There isn't a defense in the B1G West that would be able to defend a Frost offense on a yearly basis. None of the B1G West schools recruit the type of size, speed and defensive lineman to compete against a Frost offense on a yearly basis.

The difference that I see from Chip's offense and what Forst is doing is that Frost does more hat on hat and pulling and less zone blocking.

It is time to do the smart thing for the first time in 15 years.

if the pass happy folks in charge wanted frost, they would have tried 3 years ago. we need to give the pass happy approach at least 5 years, if it works out great. if it don't then we can go back to what NU does best historically.

Uh oh. You will get many responses starting in 5,4,3,2,1..

I believe he'd be successful. Wouldn't it be wonderful it we could manage some kind of transition where Riley is gracefully retained as recruiting coordinator or something on payroll. Probably unrealistic but if everybody could assume a role they are good at,,,, well in a perfect world.

Anyone else tickle your fancy? Gotta have a backup plan

This year, we've passed the ball 48.8% of the time. UCF has done it 41.4 %. So 48.8 % is "pass happy" but 41.4% is just right. OK, if you say so.

thats just because we have a first year pocket qb finally, so I cut riley slack on that. and are a lil thin at receiver, with a average line.
I see us passing a lot more if we had talent and experience across the board. I like riley, and I hope he succeeds. I just think theres certain factors that make NU chances of winning better with the run. big picture wise.

In my opinion, Scott Frost is about to become as hot of a commodity as Tom Herman last year. We are fortunate that he has Nebraska ties.

I believe we should pursue him aggressively this year or we may not have another chance to secure his services.

When Theo Epstein had a chance to get Joe Maddon to coach the Cubs, he let go of a manager after only one year. It wasn't that the former manager failed, but Theo said you can't let a game changer go when you have a chance at him.

I like Riley and under normal circumstances would have said to give him another year, but I believe Nebraska needs to strike with Frost now.

here why I think the run is more suited for NU.
weather
we don't have a large population center to get passing qb,s
and pass blocking linemen
no mountains beeches / oceans for recruits
plus it's easier to train linemen to be road graders,
it's harder to recruit against everyone and their mom for the best passing linemen and qb's.

Im ok with passing, but I think the run opens up the passing the best at NU historically speaking.

could frost work with the types of players we recruited the last 3 years to fit riley's approach? or would that set us back another 3 years?

It's truly amazing. The guy is 3-0 and people are blowing him up like he's made it into the playoff. He's 9-7 in two seasons! I mean, wow! I tell you what, the excellency is just so astounding it's difficult to take. The world of college football has never seen anything like it. People are just falling all over themselves trying to put into words the unbelievable, astounding coaching job he has performed. Nick Saban, step aside-here comes Scott Frost!

The team that was 0-12 before he took them over. His first year he managed to win 6 games and this year appears to have them competing at confer nice favorite level.

Same could be said for Tom Herman while at Houston. Texas thought highly enough of him and Texas already is starting to show signs of turning their ship.

Yeah, passing will never work in a place like Nebraska. I mean it would never work in the garden spot of Pullman, WA either, would it? I mean, there has never been a successful passing team in a cold weather place, has there?

Oh, yeah-Texas beat Iowa State this week. They're obviously on the track to greatness now! Added to that stellar win over San Jose State, the first year of the Tom Herman era is already an unqualified success. The rest of the season doesn't matter. Coach of the Year!

Is there a reason you are hell bent on not giving credit to coaches? Before Maddon went to the Cubs, he had never proven to be a World Series manager.

Texas took USC to the wire and beat up on Iowa State in a game that they likely would have lost the previous year. If you can't see the improvement happening at Texas, you're trying too hard to avoid the obvious.

17-7 is beating up on somebody? OK. But I guess our 22 point win over Illinois was just eking a win out, I'm sure.

I watched that Iowa State vs Texas game. Texas defense dominated that game.

This thread isn't about Texas. It is about Scott Frost coming to Nebraska to coach.

Frost has his players bought in, they play hard, they play with passion, they play as a team.

Did our defense dominate over Illinois?

Angry about something and I can't tell what.
Oh-I get a little angry when people go out of their way to praise other teams(Texas no less!) for things and they can't give YOUR OWN TEAM CREDIT for doing essentially the same thing, if not better. Iowa State had 256 yards of offense and 7 points. Illinois had 199 yards of offense and 6 points. The first is DOMINATING on defense, but the second is apparently nothing special. Explain that one to me.

You obviously haven't watched ONE second of film. You can tell when you are watching a well-coached team, and I've seen a well-coached team when I've watched UCF games. I highly encourage you to go to YouTube and watch entire games, and see the evolution of UCF over the last year and a half.

I do think that we need to be keeping in close touch with Frost's management throughout the year. If indeed we do need to make a change at the end of the year, I think Frost would be an excellent choice.

That is absurd to compare Scott Frost to Joe Maddon. One has had years of success and the same level and a world championship. The other has 1 year of coaching experience and it's not power 5.

Didn't we say that Nebraska shouldn't be a place where a coach learns on the job? Wasn't that a lot of people's negative on coach Bo?

BTW, I have heard Scott Frost brought up for exactly 1 job. No national talk. I think people are jumping the gun on Frost and it's getting old.

Illinois roster is made up of 53% freshman. They are not even an average football team. NU was supposed to dominate that game. Im glad that happened but its impossible to tell how much improvement has been made at this point. Hopefully it keeps trending upward.
