So according to you nobody should ever try to renegotiate anything?Ahhh the mindless insults to someone you know nothing about. Never change Kong. You give this forum some comedy.
Saying Dylan may try to restructure his deal based off a big 2025 is a dig at the program? What would expect from Kong, he has to give his daily digs at the program.😉
You don't have to believe it if you don't want to. It was reported by two CBS reporters, and his agent called it a groundbreaking deal. If it's not $4 million per year, I would bet that it's close to that number. He was the top-rated quarterback in the portal.Reports? Doesn’t mean all are true. I seriously doubt Duke football is paying a QB from Tulane 4 million.
I should have worded that differently. I don’t think Duke would give a football player 4 million. Duke is a BB school can’t believe the NIL wouldn’t be most basketball.I don’t

They’ve got a P4 football program in the south with an extremely wealthy fan populationI should have worded that differently. I don’t think Duke would give a football player 4 million. Duke is a BB school can’t believe the NIL wouldn’t be most basketball.
Not what I said at all. Do you think he handled this correctly. Sure doesn’t seem that way. And Tennessee must not think he bought more value:So according to you nobody should ever try to renegotiate anything?
My guess is Tennessee leaked this to the media to get public perception on their side, as is typical with these kinds of dealingsNot what I said at all. Do you think he handled this correctly. Sure doesn’t seem that way. And Tennessee must not think he bought more value:
in football I disagree. In Basketball for most schools including Nebraska who can’t get the top 50 - 100 recruits I totally agree.
The kid just did a "hold out" for more money right in the middle of spring practice. Expected the boosters to grovel at his feet and toss a few more million his way. I'm glad for the Tennessee football program that they didn't give in.Tennessee told him to hit the road when he wanted 4 million instead of the 2.5 he was making. Good luck to the kid . But you are bringing a problem into your locker room.
Like you would know anything....Hopefully Dylan’s restructuring/contract requests after (also hopefully) a big 2025 don’t become too public
We're not spending my money, I hope he has a huge year and deserves every penny of his inevitable bump. With our thirsty fanbase, the R.O.I would be easy math.Hopefully Dylan’s restructuring/contract requests after (also hopefully) a big 2025 don’t become too public
Yep I believe he misread the room. The kid just did a "hold out" for more money right in the middle of spring practice. Expected the boosters to grovel at his feet and toss a few more million his way. I'm glad for the Tennessee football program that they didn't give in.
He can transfer anywhere he wants. There are no "laws" about that stuff anymore, at least none that will be enforced.Meh… He won’t get nearly as much as he wants or thinks he’s worth. He wants $4 million a year, nobody is giving him that. Dumbass kid has his dumbass dad as representation and they WAY over played their hand. Nico has size, measurables and eligibility; but he was statistically the 10th best QB in an overrated SEC.
Additionally, according to SEC bylaws you can’t transfer from one SEC school to another in the spring portal. So that vastly limits the number of schools willing to pay 7 figures for a QB. Most of the Big XII and ACC can’t afford to pay even $1 million a year for a QB. (much less $4 million) Which basically leaves the B1G as his only option to make $2+ million a year.
Hats off to Tennessee for not caving, very positive move for the current NIL market. Nico fvcked up, now he needs a school more than a school needs him. He’ll be lucky to get the $2 million a year that Tennessee was currently paying him. His only real chance at making that $2 million is if OSU decides Sayin isn’t their guy. He’s been penciled in as OSU’s starter but apparently they’re not super impressed so far. And if OSU does take a flyer on Nico (long shot at best) he won’t get one penny more than the $2 million UT was paying him. Probably get less cause OSU has all the leverage. They’re not necessarily looking for a QB, most teams aren’t at this point, but Nico is looking for a school.
Most of these #'s are not even close. Which is fine and it is in the best interest of the players to never deny it because it will just keep jacking up the price.$4 million for a top quarterback appears to be the going rate now.
"Carson Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami for his final year of eligibility for more than $4 million in NIL money, a source told Front Office Sports. Darian Mensah transferred from Tulane to Duke for $8 million over two years, CBS reported. John Mateer transferred from Washington State to Oklahoma for the same price, 247Sports reported.
It sure looks like $4 million per year is the market rate for a top college quarterback right now. But check back in one month and the numbers will probably go up. Quinn Ewers—who ended up declaring for the NFL Draft—was supposedly offered $8 million by an unnamed school to play one more college season, according to 247Sports. That is the breakneck pace at which the NIL Wild West is only getting wilder."

Maybe. Maybe not. Tennessee didn’t see him that critical to cave. And they have a lot of nil cash. Could backfireMost of these #'s are not even close. Which is fine and it is in the best interest of the players to never deny it because it will just keep jacking up the price.
Maybe. Time will tell but I disagree I don’t believe he is of the best. He put up big numbers against mediocre competition but didn’t have much effect on critical games. Against good competition. Tennessee in my opinion made the right choice to tell him to pound sandMy guess is Tennessee leaked this to the media to get public perception on their side, as is typical with these kinds of dealings
I'm not overly impressed by Nico, eitherMaybe. Time will tell but I disagree I don’t believe he is of the best. I agree with that. But just because he feels he is worth a certain amount doesn’t make it true. And the vols called him on it. Just my opinion I would be very cautious with him if I were other teamsI'm not overly impressed by Nico, either
but I won't ever shit on someone for trying to get what they think they are worth
Fact is buddy he isn’t.I'm not overly impressed by Nico, either

It’s likely Tenn lowballed him and then leaked this to make him look badI agree with that. But just because he feels he is worth a certain amount doesn’t make it true. And the vols called him on it. Just my opinion I would be very cautious with him if I were other teams
Tennessee didn’t low ball him he was getting paid what he agreed to. He asked for a raise and they said no. None of that has anything to do with the schedule they play . But as usual you had to take a shot at The Nebraska program. It’s likely Tenn lowballed him and then leaked this to make him look bad
We just don’t know
Sucks we won’t see them up close in a couple years

And from what I read is that Nico started getting nil payments as a senior in highschool. He agreed to terms. The terms would be 10 mil by the time he left the vols. And in my opinion had not lived up to an imcrease. It’s likely Tenn lowballed him and then leaked this to make him look bad

I have zero issues with him trying to get more money it’s the American way. But I believe he read Tennessee wrong and didn’t have any other offers in hand at a higher price. He likely won’t get anymore money now because he has no leverage. And from what I read is that Nico started getting nil payments as a senior in highschool. He agreed to terms. I would believe that Tennessee leaked the story more if they had someone in the wings better. Right now they have a true freshman in McIntyre and a RS freshman in Merklinger. The coach even stated they need to find a difference maker QB in the portal. So he isn’t confident in what they have. It’s likely Tenn lowballed him and then leaked this to make him look bad

You are essentially defending someone's right to quit the team. In this new twist, a star QB quit on his teammates and coaches, but was willing to rejoin the team if his pay was doubled or tripled.I'm not overly impressed by Nico, either
but I won't ever shit on someone for trying to get what they think they are worth
Somebody will pay him what he wants to give him a fresh start. The sports world is all about giving second and third chances to talented athletes. Like it or not, this kid will be a high 1st round draft pick next year barring some additional problems we do not know about. He's got a lot of arm talent.I don't think Nico is a first round pick yet so he would be wise to play two more years and show he can win games under pressure. One year at $4 million is a bad deal for any school that isn't one piece away from an NC team.
Same people who claim they're free market capitalists... go figure. So according to you nobody should ever try to renegotiate anything?
I mean better get used to it as it's going to happen more and more under the current climate. You are essentially defending someone's right to quit the team. In this new twist, a star QB quit on his teammates and coaches, but was willing to rejoin the team if his pay was doubled or tripled.
