Both sides of this argument have a point. We don't have a clown on the sideline embarrassing himself and us on a weekly basis. We do have a highly undisciplined team that seems to love collecting tons of personal fouls on a weekly basis. I have to admit that the soccer flop one with the Minny LB was Bs, but you have Demorney Pierson El gathering one up very early in the game. I only saw him blocking downfield on the replay, but I am guessing he did more to earn it. He and several other players throughout the game refuse to just make the play and return to the huddle without doing their "look at me" statement. I guess I am old school, but act like Barry Sanders who is far superior to all of our guys. Act like you have been there. Do your job and get back in the huddle. I have a deeper appreciation for Tommy Armstrong and Jammal Lord every time I see crap like that.

When you see this team play, and understand just how depleted and bare the cupboards are and were when MR took over, then realize we're 8-2 with a great shot of going 10-2, it's easy to feel way better than where we were with Bo. Bo gave us many years to draw conclusions from, MR has given us less than two. Even if it's guarded optimism, there's at least some with this staff, there was none left with the last staff.

To look at it one way, we are one play in OT from being a one loss team with a chance of a possible second woodshedding by the tOSU juggernaut.
Are we a great team? No, but we knew that before the season. The D has improved. We need more depth on the Oline. Tommy and Newby were warriors, Westy is a clutch receiver and I liked how we used our backs in the pass game last night.

The coach isn't an embarrassment.
More 4 and 5 stars have visited this season then the last 10 years or something.
Recruits are checking out Nebraska that wouldn't have when Bo was the coach.

But still we're going to be 9-3 at least. Recruiting looks pretty good to date, although it seems to have stalled out a bit. So I don't know if we have escaped the regular 9 wins and no hardware swamp yet or not. May not really know by the end of next year either, because we have to install a new QB, and how he and the other replacements do will have to be seen on the field. May not really see if the coaching change worked until year 4.

Agree 100 percent. For me the big gaps in talent at certain positions confirm that a coaching change was needed, but whether Riley is the right guy to finally get NU back in the business of winning conference championships remains to be seen. I hope so.

There are no guarantees in life. And Nebraska being #1 every year or being conference champions every year is not realistic. You need to remove the name RRP going forward, he would be embarrassed by your thought process.

We're on our second year in with Riley. To answer the OP question, nothing of substance has really changed. But, Riley has more time to affect change. I don't defend Mike Riley a whole lot, but I will defend the process of seeing if he will be a good coach for us.

Please look at the recruiting ability of the coaches, their relationship with the players that is not a cult us against the fans and media. Then just ask the smartest people in Football that have not even sent Bo or his clan a text message with all of these job openings. Everyone knows Bo was an urban legend borne out of the work of Vernebles and Miles staff and others. He has not even interviewed for a pro-position job or any college defensive coordinators or HC jobs. He can remain with his stories of how he got the shaft in Youngstown as he will never return his true inability is realized. Are we Better yes way better.
