When I was 34-35 years-old I was in fun waterfront bar on a hot summer afternoon when I met a woman that I just assumed was over 21. We must have dated for at least a month that summer, often going to bars or restaurants, before I found out she was nineteen. She had a fake ID. Nothing to get in trouble over for me, but I was still mildly surprised. She was pretty mature at the time, probably more than I was. She didn't come from the best family situation, so she had been working full-time and living on her own since before she got out of high school. I always gave her a lot of credit for that. She was dealt a bad hand and rose above it.
