What a tough job for coaches when recruiting top players. You practically have to tell them they'll start to stay competitive. Yet in reality, not that many are really ready for the next level.
Generally an offensive skill position problem.

With a 53.6 completion percentage, and 23 TDs to 21 INTs for career numbers, he will have to improve a lot to get to the NFL after next year.
Well, I mean, he's no Sam Keller, but....That is why all of us need to take a wait and see approach before any of these quarterbacks are anointed the next big thing.
This is true... but at the same time it has been stated repeatedly he had no Oline at Tulane and they switched offenses to one not suited for his skills. With a 53.6 completion percentage, and 23 TDs to 21 INTs for career numbers, he will have to improve a lot to get to the NFL after next year.
Didn't someone mention though that when Tommy was cramping that POB was the qb on the sideline warming up?
Yes, whoever wins the start - lets hope we see both getting real game experience for N early. Sounds like POB could be more of a running threat; while both should pass well, and Tanner will dissect you early with all his game experience. He is really going to have all the tools here. ...... The coaches have been seeing it on the field - the outdoor practice field, the indoor practice field, against our best D players, running multiple offenses with various players ( including our #1's ), on film of our practices; on film of his starts in another conference; in the film and meeting ant testing rooms; .... on and in ...........// Well lets hope he looks good to the fans at the Spring game; would hate to see the coaches shorted on fan opinion; even with pro scouts at practice at times.GBRI look forward to "seeing" it on the field.

When people look back at an average completion % for Tanner before he got here - I haven't taken the time to break it down; but a poster mentioned a 13-36 game and another as poor performances. Another poster pointed out it was under a wave of sackers from a far superior team. A couple games were mentioned like that - my point then; he must have really excelled vs slightly better or equal teams to be over 50% completed, after several teams rocked his team. He has come to a great program; with great coaches.Tanner Lee has an absolute cannon. He has arguably the most arm talent I've seen from a Husker QB in a long time. His numbers weren't great at Tulane but he has a full year to learn the Offense and work with Riley and Langs. Tommy has become a much better QB than I ever thought possible due to their coaching. I think for Lee the sky is the limit.

The word from Devaney should be all you need. The guy's NFL job was evaluating NFL talent.
I love hyperbole. Who awarded him the Heisman or put him on the Mt Rushmore of Husker football. Last I checked not all NFL QBs won the Heisman.
Just give some of the fans a little more time.
Tanner will be one and done.
