I never seen a first year qb come to Nebraska and turn into joe montana.
yet I have been assured tanner will break tom brady's 5 Super Bowl ring record.

I can only think of 3 qb's who hit the ground running their first year.
if I remember right, gill was good out of the gate. ganz was good (except he was in the system for 4 years before) and tommie frazier. all of them guys had a real good supporting cast too.

so I couldn't understand the tanner hype and I still can't.
but if tanner is gone to the nfl this year, that means next year, we will have another first year qb.

so that means it will be riley's 5th year before he has a qb with a years real game time experience under his belt. will Nebraska fans be able to make it that far? and if they can't and we can everyone again. will we stay with the passing? or will we go back to the proven running offense? and if we do go back to the proven running offense, that will take 2 years before we have all the supporting cast and run/pass qb to run the offense. so either way it seems like we are 2 years away from being a competitive threat to at least winning the big 10 west.

unless tanner is not pro bowl bound this year. then next year we might contend for the big west.
Im just trying to figure out where we are going to be. and how much of a chance lee will be around next year?
(not banging on lee, I think the hype has hurt him more than helped him)

If tanner isn't our starter next year it most certainly isn't because he declared for the NFL draft

Nobody assured you Tanner will break Brady's SB ring record.

There comes a time to stop piling on.
Now might be a good time.

And you are "banging on lee".

We need a TrueHuskerFan post to let us know how things are actually right where Riley wants them.

I guess I don't remember crouch's first year, I just remember the nuke crouch millard west drama.

martinez never won a championship, he did run good his first year as far as straight forward speed. but I can't remember, didn't he get hurt his first year and never seemed to have the same speed?

I just think to give riley a fair chance, he should at least have a passing qb with a year under his belt.

I know we recruit against everyone for pass blocking linemen now, instead of just using 5th year road grinders via the milt/boyd epply factory. but Im surprised by the constant break down on the line because by the 3rd year they should know their job pretty good.

I understand riley hands were tied the first two years cause he had to get passing personel in. but this is the 3rd year for the oline to be comfortable in what they are doing.

I was more banging on the fan who told me lee was NFL bound at the end of the year, "no matter what happens". I felt like Apollo creeds trainer watching rocky break ribs in the meat freezer.

like I say, I don't know a lot of qb's who make a big splash their first year...and I understand lee did play college ball before, but learning a whole new system and everyone in that system takes time.
