I never seen a first year qb come to Nebraska and turn into joe montana.
yet I have been assured tanner will break tom brady's 5 Super Bowl ring record.
I can only think of 3 qb's who hit the ground running their first year.
if I remember right, gill was good out of the gate. ganz was good (except he was in the system for 4 years before) and tommie frazier. all of them guys had a real good supporting cast too.
so I couldn't understand the tanner hype and I still can't.
but if tanner is gone to the nfl this year, that means next year, we will have another first year qb.
so that means it will be riley's 5th year before he has a qb with a years real game time experience under his belt. will Nebraska fans be able to make it that far? and if they can't and we can everyone again. will we stay with the passing? or will we go back to the proven running offense? and if we do go back to the proven running offense, that will take 2 years before we have all the supporting cast and run/pass qb to run the offense. so either way it seems like we are 2 years away from being a competitive threat to at least winning the big 10 west.
unless tanner is not pro bowl bound this year. then next year we might contend for the big west.
Im just trying to figure out where we are going to be. and how much of a chance lee will be around next year?
(not banging on lee, I think the hype has hurt him more than helped him)
