That was some of the absolute worst offensive play calling I can ever remember watching. 90 percent of this loss is because of HORRIBLE coaching. Major wind swirling and they go away from the run, which was working!
How many times do we have to watch an OC smash his head into a break wall with the pass happy crap in conditions that don't call for it? 6.4 ypc running and he thinks its time for TA to be Joe Montana. Unbelievable!!!!

I think Langsdorf is a victim of what he thought was his strong point, which is what Tommy had done the 4 games prior and not being smart enough to realize that what you get with Tommy is sometimes fools gold.

Could the "Sports Science" guy on ESPN do a little segment on the effect of a 25mph plus wind on deep throws for OCDL?

I see your point but there is no excuse for 31 passes in this game.

Riley could have brought anyone with him to Lincoln and what did he do? Bring the same old buddies that forced the Oregon State AD at the end of last season to tell Riley he had to make changes within his staff. This is why Mike left Corvallis into the waiting arms of Eichorst.

Riley may yet succeed here, but yesterday's game management was an abomination. For the sake of argument, let's assume Langsdorf felt like the pass game was his best weapon, based on the first four games. If so, what reasonable person wouldn't be able to see the game well enough to modify that belief? Illinois' coaching staff couldn't count downs, but knew enough to run more than usual, based on the conditions? No one on Nebraska's staff watched game film of Illinois, and saw that they are terrible at stopping the run, the zone read in particular? Not one coach on our sideline has called a game in bad weather, when scoring is at a premium? They've never had a lead in those games, and worked the clock?

Stubborn doesn't begin to describe what we saw yesterday.

Yeah I know stubborn doesnt cover it but, what I wanted to say would have made me sound like a complete lunatic.
