Storms in Nebraska

Did you get any rain this last week?
I contacted the people doing the drought monitor map and basically told them they were full of you know what. They said based off stream flow, satellite imagery and lastly rainfall. Well if upstream they have rain and runoff, most of thayer county irrigated so some doofus in Maryland can't tell difference between irrigated and dryland/pasture satellite imagery....amazing now we went from slight drought to extreme drought in less than 2 weeks. Paid to bitch and thanks to ks newsletter for giving me phone number. The guy I talked to said "oh I see there's something wrong in there". 🤬

Coincidentally, Primrose was leveled by a tornado in the 60s. I was too small to remember it, but it is a terrifying memory for those who live in that area. Something like 8 or 10 tornados on the ground that night.
Our original family farm was leveled along with a lot of the town in 65'. My oldest siblings were all born up there and had to make do after that. My folks moved from the farm to the metro area a couple years later and had three more boys (me the last). My family still owns the farm and I regularly head to Greeley for the Irish Festival. It is always a good time.

3 inches of rain this week in addition to golf ball size hail a few days ago. Raining right now with more forecasted for tomorrow. My allergies are F'n intolerable right now.

No sh*t. It says it was west of Spalding. My family owns a farm just southeast of there in Primrose and my moms side of the family was from Greeley (Sam Foltz's town). I have literally driven by the Foltz farm many times on Hwy 56 heading to Greeley from the farm. Spalding is a cool little town with a really cool farm equipment store where we go to get a bunch of supplies while at the farm. Making fun of small towns getting wiped out ain't cool. F that guy.
I felt like he was trying to be an a-hole to Mrs Jeans, not small towns.

My wife is from Spalding. I always enjoy visiting that town. If I could make close to the money I'm making now in Spalding then we'd consider moving there.
Damn. Yall talking about my territory now.

Played ball against Spalding and Greeley my whole life.

My dad is very good buds with T Kleffner in Spalding and I drive by the Foltz farms regularly this time of year at work.

Primrose got destroyed when I was a kid. I still remember hiding in our basement that night as tornadoes hit that part of Nebraska. Seems like they lost 13 people? That said I think you’re taking his post in the wrong way.

Meaningless story, but a good friends cousin ran the bar there back in the late 80's.
That bar had a great steak night back in the day. It wasn't Ruth's Chris or anything, but for about $12 you could get a damn good steak dinner. Not many of those to be found anymore.

Only 4 people died in the Primrose tornado - which is amazing considering how minimal the warnings were back then. Very fortunate there weren't more deaths.

It was last Dingers until he closed shop a few years ago. Hell of a nice guy. He had steak night on Saturdays I think. I remember having an inexpensive NY strip while watching a Husker game.
