Starting to worry if the Huskers will be physical enough to beat Iowa

The Hogeyes are about to land former 4* OT Trevor Elbert, who had offers from Bama, OSU, Texas and Oklahoma....as a walk on.

The Iowa Hogeyes won the 2016 Joe Moore Award for College Football's Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit over Clemson and Alabama. No doubt, this was a determining factor in the Elbert decision.

So a team that returns four OL starters and eight of their ten in their two deeps, adds a talent like this as a walk on, can we compete with that in a brand new 3-4 defense?

GBR
Bucky sucky.

Yeah, that just shows how bad recruiting has gotten at Iowa. Adding a walk-on 4 star who isn't cleared to play at his current school ties for the second highest rated recruit in Captain Kirks last 2 recruiting classes. If it wasn't for the legacy 5 Star Epenesa and local Iowa boy 4 Star Wirfs, then Elbert would be the highest rated prospect they have brought on campus the last 2 years. Even Captain Kirk's Smoke and Mirror show with lackadaisical recruiting is going to catch up with them soon. They aren't bringing in the level of athletes that others B1G schools are. Nobody on their roster is of the athletic level of Tyjon Lindsey, Bookie, Lamar Jackson,......... Riley is restocking our barren cupboards with talented athletes while Lefrentz is playing with fire hoping he can continue to develop recruits who he competes with MAC school to get. Good coaching can only take you so far, you need the athletes. As Barry Switzer said about the secret to winning "it's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmies and Joes".
I know you are kind of new to the Big Ten, but Iowa never gets a large amount of 4-5 star players. They find players that fit their system and develops them. And a lot of the time develops them into NFL talent.

Why is Nebraska so obsessed with the spring game? You almost brag about that more than how you used to be good in the 90s. Neither mean a single thing once the season starts.

I'm guessing because Nebraska understands how much a packed house for a measly spring game can impact recruiting. Picked up 4 recruits, 3 of them 4 stars, and still getting mileage out of that practice with more commits coming.

And a defense that gave up 40 points to the worst Iowa offense in recent history.

Well, considering a healthy Tommy Armstrong keeps drives going, which not only keeps your offense off the field, but allows our defense to rest, I'm guessing you don't come remotely close to 40.

True, but you might want to go back and roll tape on the complete ass whipping that was going on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

And hows that working for you when it comes to winning championships?

Q: Whats the smallest room in Iowa?
A: The Hawkeyes Trophy Room

5/6 years in the B1G we have finished above Iowa in B1G standings or tied, more overall wins in 5 of the 6 years, and higher finish in AP/Coaches poll 5/6 years.

Does that matter at all? Not sure really, just thought I'd say it.

An Iowa fan not understanding football.. Who would have thought?

You do understand when a QB is ineffective, and you have no threat of him running the ball or passing effectively, your offense is going to be ineffective. It impacts nearly every aspect of our running game.

You guys were winning the LOS when we were on offense because you were able to stack the box. Your coaches knew Tommy A. was injured and they would stack the box, and see how he could throw. We had WRs running wide open that he missed on multiple occasions. If he were healthy, he would have hit at least some of those throws, and you would have had to back off of loading up the box.

Your coaches were able to play your defense differently solely because we had an injured QB. So...when an offense can't move the ball, our defense gets worn out from being on the field.

In the future, try to understand how the game works before you comment.

C'mon man, everyone knows Trevor Elbert played for us in the 90s and is the AD at UNO. Get outta here with that silly stuff.

The team to beat in the BIG is Penn St. they have the best QB and two running backs to add with talent on both sides.
