Southeast CC needs a football program

Might be a good place to have a "relationship" with to develop those former PWOs. Let them play a year or two in a system similar to the Huskers, and then see if they fit into the 105-player roster.

Probably a logistical nightmare to start, and other Power 4 programs would scout/poach, but having a strong program literally down the highway a bit might be fun in the same way that the old freshman team games on Friday afternoons at Memorial Stadium were fun: let's see who can play and who can't is a real-game situation. The bonus — no wasted eligibility.

SCC has moved some of its sports operation to Lincoln. Basketball games are now played in Lincoln anyway. I'm not sure how much money it would take to start a program, but the potential would be very good. Maybe rent out Lincoln Christian's field. Centrally located between the Iowa and Kansas jucos. If kids could go there to develop an extra year or two, while not using up any eligibility I bet some kids would come to Lincoln without even the promise of getting much financial aid. Full tuition at SCC is probably cheaper than going to Doane or Hastings on scholarship anyway.

I think they need to clear up the relationship between the NJCAA and the NCAA before anything is done. If the kids going the JUCO route have 4 years after JUCO, how many do you bring in...? NCAA football is a mess right now; why add dirt to the mud?

We used to "place" guys at Coffeyville JC back in the day. With the Dakota schools, Wayne State and Kearney, I'm not sure if the same value for academic non-qualifiers at a JUCO is the same today.
