Sources say LSU fires Miles and Cameron

Probably best for all sides at this point. Right or wrong, what transpired at the end of last season probably made that relationship irreparable.

Lol, Houston isn't in the same stratosphere as LSU and never will be. If you're a big time coach LSU is a job you want. They expect to win there and will do what it takes to make that happen.

Agreed. Even if Houston gets into the Big 12, that doesn't make it more lucrative than LSU. Heck, Les Miles left a Big 12 school (Oklahoma State) to go to LSU. LSU is a bigger name school.

With that said, it depends on the coach and what he perceives as his "what if" future:
Move to LSU and coach for 3 to 7 years before 'not being good enough' and getting fired, or staying in Houston for as long as he wishes, even with some down years.

Nowadays, many schools are more apt to fire a coach within 4 years if he isn't winning enough. LSU might fit into that category as far as the winning part goes. Look what Auburn did with Gene Chizik when they fired him 2 seasons after a National Title.

Many head coaches have huge egos with something to prove, so I could see a big name coach taking that position.

LSU has potential, money, fans, and recent success on the recruiting trail. What more could a coach want?

Houston is now the 5th largest metro area population in the country. U of Houston could become what Miami was in the 90s if Herman stays and he can keep all or most of the elite talent home. It's not like the school has zero football history. They've been more than relevant at times.

is that Orgeron dream job? I read how he was a cajun, when the head coach search was going on at NU. maybe he could keep bo in line as a dc.

Orgeron has baggage (booze, maybe more) in his past that outweighs Bo's issues. I think concerns about that is what has kept him off the board for some major programs, even perhaps Nebraska's when Riley was filling out his staff. (If you recall, Orgeron made comments about being interested in a position on the staff.) USC didn't show much interest in him even after he was pretty successful in the interim role after Kiffin was fired in 2013, opting instead for a younger coach with a drinking problem. The dude recruits like a mofo and seems to be a pretty good guy and coach, so hopefully he is in a good place health-wise. But I doubt he's going to be the first pick for keeping bo in line. That would test Carry Nation's sobriety.

It is interesting that 30 years ago your baggage was if you didn't drink in the coaching profession. Now people pretend like it is an issue.

if he can recruit and bo can run a defense, it seems like a match. and I'm no bo lover.
but bo did seem to put a pretty fair defense together with callahans recruits.
that one with suh vs texas o-line was a great defense, almost as good as when we had the peter bros, with winstrom and tomich.
