Sorry separate thread: EJ in the portal.

No reason that I could see (don't see practices) that he shouldn't of been #1 all season. Again, I go back to prior to our first game, HCMR kept implying Rahmir and Emmett were 1/2, leading all the way up through game week. Then gameday, it was Dowdell. Very ?? Then it was Dowdell/Rahmir with Emmett getting 3rd string reps for the first half of the season.

Probably said, F it, don't want to go through this again. What's going to change, same RB coach, same HC, I'll take my chances elsewhere.
Something a lil bitch would do

This is the kind of thing thats going to make college football less and less interesting to follow and get to know a team.

In years past you could be excited about players coming back or watch promising freshmen develop over the years, and now its all scattered and wont feel like the same team year to year, like its a whole new program.

I get that we suck and we want to flip the roster, but this guy is an example of one we wanted to see take off next year.

I used to really like following the sport nationally, it’s just too hard to keep up with the players.

Even to the die hard fans, the sport is becoming hard to follow. The casual fan is going to have no idea who tf is on the team from year to year.

Same thing happened with the “one and done” rule in college basketball - this is the same but to an exponential degree.

I have zero problem with NIL and players making money, but the unlimited transfers is going to kill CFB.

For those of you commenting you don't like where CFB is going, you never should have supported expanded playoffs. CFB had the only interesting regular season. Its a different sport now. That said, I am going to trust Holgerson to get the RB room right.

Who said everyone supported the expanded playoffs?

All that could be true, but I think it’s much more likely that after DH’s arrival he sees his $$$ value for 2025 much higher than what he’s getting paid now. He also knows we will actually pay what we promise so if we match or come close to what others offer, he will stay. If he was my kid I definitely would have advised him to hit the portal as long as he understood NU could choose not to match.

Like or not, this is pro football.

That is why it’s not making sense, he has worked his way up to starting since DH has arrived..
Yeah and hopefully that helps keep him. He also has the prospect of another year with a position coach who has twice buried him on the depth chart when in game situations he has proven he is clearly the best back. It would be understandable if there is frustration there. What was that coach looking at in practice every day.

The three things Dana said were the most glaring problems when he arrived were receivers not blocking, receivers being taught all positions, but mastering none, and backs not being able to see holes. He wasted no time getting rid of McGuire. I'm wondering if Barthel might be next.

That would be incredibly shortsighted and immature. He was thriving in DH’s offense at the end of the year. He should be excited about the future, not pouting about the past.

I was against it and fully support the wild west bowl season that built CFB and made the regular season and conference races so great.

But it isnt pro football.

Even they are smart enough to know you cannot have unchecked free agency.

He isnt wrong you senile fool. You have no idea what it would be like to know you are better than everyone playing after busting ass for how long, and then just because the HC needs to save his bacon and a new guy comes in you finally get to play all is supposed to be well? Heck I wouldnt trust them either anymore, especially if there are new guys going to come in they will make promises to just like they did DD.

I hate it and the portal but I see where EJ is coming from.

Not saying he isn’t.. he keeps repeating the same stuff that we’ve already read in his previous post..

I was good with the Big 8

The answer is contracts and or pulling the reigns back on unlimited transfers.

Make them sign a contract that owes money back to the university if they were to leave. If they have better options elsewhere it would still be the correct move.

Unlimited transfers itself will be harder to pull back on since they opened that box.

With that said, the people bitching about EJ leaving are also going to open their arms if one of those productive receivers from Kentucky would transfer in. It’s the same story with them. It’s just a weird time and you are going to lose production every year if your team isn’t up on the success mountain. Whether you make everyone happy or not there’s going to be turnover with how things are in this current landscape.
