So Texass will be spending 35 to 40 million

Texas had a modern day record of 12 players selected in the 7 round draft. I didn't watch the entire draft but was amazed at how often the Texas players were drafted. They are obviously getting the talent there irregardless of the number of championships.

I remember many years ago reading an article about when HS recruits would go to Bama when Saban was around. He had a board with former players pictures and where they were drafted, how much money and any long term contracts later on. The recruits were blown away by the number of zeros.

The NIL is just a topping on the cake in all of this. You can get big bucks to go there for 4 years and have a possible ticket to continued earnings. I know younger people tend to look at the here and now but it is hard to ignore the big number contracts.

There are relatively few schools that provide that amount of NIL consistently and I don't believe Nebraska is one of them. If this continues, there will only be a handful of schools enjoying consistent success.

While completely legit in this NIL world, this win-at-all costs arrogance is one reason I don't like the Texas culture.

And yes I'm still pissed about Enron. Cheatin' sacks o' shit.

Is it a "Texas" culture or a "winning football in today's landscape" culture? Ohio, Oregon, etc seem to have a similar culture.

I hate it too, but I don't think it has anything to do with Texas. It's just the cards that are dealt, at least for now.

I thought the modern day record of players drafted belonged to Georgia at 15 (around 3 or 4 years ago) followed by OSU at 14 who did it 2x including this year. All 3 of those figures represented NC teams

If the power finance teams that run Husker athletics want to spend money on the stadium, I’d rather it be to add hardware to the trophy case then some stupid new addition to the stadium that no one really cares about.

Ask players today, do they want the green or some upgrades to their already very nice locker room

Maybe you should ask the people that seat in the south stadium that have no restrooms to accommodate them or vendors close by how stupid it is.

Ok Karen. I’ve sat in the south stadium many times. I think I’d rather walk a few more dam feet to piss and win. Then to save myself a few steps to piss and go 5-7.

I’ve been to stadiums and parks with a much longer walk to piss then the south stadium. Much much longer walks.

There will need to be a total salary cap established for teams IF there is to be a level playing field in college football. And of course some mechanism to prevent cheating.

This combined with player contracts. Salary cap, contracts and an enforcement body with the ability to actually investigate and hold cheaters accountable. Those 3 measures are the absolute bare minimum necessary to provide a somewhat level playing field. Will it happen? 🤷‍♂️ Hope so…

They can do both. Remolding the South stadium has nothing to do with winning or losing.

Only place I ever had to walk out of the stadium that I recall to piss is in Pasadena.

Equal parts, I suppose. I kinda long for the days when it was more underground, like giving a player a "job" at a car dealership.

When had there ever been a level playing field in college football and why is it necessary? There's no rule right now preventing us from spending the same.

I've been in South stadium a lot. This isn't an issue unless your bladder is the size of a pea and I think bathroom lines and concessions flow smoother than in other parts of the stadium.

Consider also Austin vs Lincoln. Lincoln is nice but it is not Austin.

Unfortunately we're a decade late or 2. Those should have been done when we could have taken better roi. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

In the 2025 NFL Draft, 12 players from the University of Texas were selected, breaking the previous program record of 11 set in 2024. This includes three players being drafted in the first round for the first time since 1980. Texas also ties the record for most players taken in a single draft by a college program within the seven-round format, with 12 players drafted in 2025

Good thing Texas sucks just like their pro team the cowboys
i've been hoping this to be true the past two seasons, but i think they are unfortunately going to be a power for years to come.

Sarkisian has proved to be a serious coach with serious intent on winning games, something I wouldn't have predicted at the time of the hire.

East stadium is way better. I can have my food by the time I'm down the stairs at half in south stadium.

This is true. Some of the “upgrades” that have been done, you wonder why they haven’t done this before.

I'm in 600 level and agree versus my seats in section 24. Love 600 level for access, concessions and restrooms. But get your runza before game and before halftime because they run out and won't resupply

How can Texas tie the record of 12 in 2025 of the most by any school when OSU had 14 drafted in 2025.????

OK, so for the sake of conversation, let’s say a cap is established and now everybody has the same amount of $ to work with. Still a lot of portal free agents going to the highest bidder every season. But won’t the “under the table deals” just come back? You know, like buying mom a condo on Clearwater Beach or the local Porsche dealer “leases” a 911 to a player, but the kid never makes a payment….. I agree, SOMETHING needs to be done to rein this in and hopefully they can….
