so rhule wanted dana in january as oc

that's how a retard would interpret it.

i'm saying that what people say about the current HC on a podium often times differs from the truth.

did Mickey Joseph stand at the dais and say "yeah Frost was a tail-chasing alcoholic, that's why I'm here now"

people like you take everything at face value then feign surprise when easily deducible details come out.

be smarter than that, for once.

Anyone with a clear head knows that Dana was offered Glenn Thomas’s spot, which was basically Assistant OC, not really CO. And it probably doesn’t work out for us in the long run that way cause Dana would have seen day 1 how awful Satterfield was and he’d probably just been frustrated to have to take a back seat to a fool. This would have added more fatigue to his burnout. And most likely Dana’s says adios after this year. The DH story in Lincoln needed to work out this way cause he needed the control. Alphas don’t take back seats to betas

The narrative for a few sunshine-pumpers these last few weeks is funny. Seen it the same way with the last few coaches. Next week, after we beat Iowa tomorrow, one of them will claim Matt’s going to be interviewing with the Saints and Giants but not sure if they can match Penn States offer.

granted I appreciate glass half full people but it’s those that will tell you it’s not half full, but completely full and actually over full when it’s clearly not that are hard to handle

couple things,
1. I questioned why no Nebraska reporters asked rhule why dana was in Lincoln....????
2. if dana was onboard last January, we would have probably won Illinois and ucla possibly usc (although the refs are probably usc fans like mich and osu)
3. the fact that rhule asked dana in january means he was not just thinking bout his buddy sat. (more like thats all he had at the time)
4. the feild goal and kicking has come around, someone added 1+1 = barney should return kicks (so besides tackling on kickoffs and punts is foley still in the dunce corner? or is rhule shopping?)
5. the secondary guy apparently has a nfl deal that takes time to grasp so he will be around. ((need 1 lock down db from portal)
6. the lb coach will be round (need portal help/speed)
7. the dline coach will be round (need dl from portal to play next to van poppel guy)
8. all things considered rhule is doing ok and we should'nt complain too much (1 to 2 days after a defeat is ok)
9. beat iowa... they got a good rb, need to shut that down...and attack what ever weak spot we can find on Iowa's d...
So a good CEO needs a replacement for an ineffective worker in the 2nd most important position in the company. They target one person, he is burned out and CEO gives up and relies on ineffective worker who happens to be his close friend? The question is? Why didn't he bring in any of the other dozens of OCs who have better analytics than Satt, especially at 1.4 million a year?

I don't get paid 7 million a year to make these calls, I can't figure everything out.....I just report major breaking stories before sipple and thammel..and bring logical absolutes to the forefront.

I appreciate the thoughts and info, just getting it out on the board that Rhule shouldn't get a pass just because Dana wasn't available. Rhule should be restructuring his contract in admittance that he screwed up royally and cost a lot of people money by making games against Indiana, OSU, UCLA, USC lack the drama that they should have. These contracts given out that have almost no accountability or checkpoints for production are so poison. I guarantee if Rhule could lose a few million by sticking with Satt...A. He never would have hired him, B. He would have been 1 and done.

thats a bit over my pay grade also...I'm thinking folks ain't doing back flips over tuckers or jimbos contract either...accountability? hell look at dc...thats makes millions look like crumbs...

my problem is when ever hire is called a "buddy hire". shall there be a law that no contact can ever be made before hiring an assistant coach? yeah I don't know...what if voices from the grand stand called dr tom a "buddy hire" when devany hired him?

fact is rhule was looking to replace sat after 1 year...the other fact is we been firing assistant coaches on a pass happy carousel for 20 years...and that and a dime ain't got us much...

Dana would have been calling plays IF he had taken the Co-OC job when offered last winter. Anybody using a sliver of common sense would know that. I don't care what Satt's job title was, there was no way in hell Rhule was going to keep Satt as the play caller after watching last year. Rhule isn't an idiot.

IF he had hired Dana there was no way Satt would have been calling plays. Rhule no doubt failing to get Dana, thought that Thomas coaching Dylan and helping Satt with game planning would help the play calling clearly there's no fixin Satt's play calling.

So your stance is that, because Rhule is not an idiot, he would have had Dana calling plays after one year of seeing Satt suck, but since Dana didn't want the job as it was structured at the time, Rhule just decided, "Eh okay that's cool we'll just go with Satt then."

Sorry, but that just doesn't compute. Pretty hard to praise him for something that would have happened, when not only didn't it happen, nothing of the sort happened, until mid November anyway. I know you always try to put a positive spin on things, but your logic seems very half pregnant to me

I am just absolutely blown away that 99% of college football fans are competitive capitalist minded people, who value competition and performance accountability and using that competition from winning and compensation to create the best product, and yet in college football, we have a blockhead linebacker making an relatively unilateral decision based on his "heart", giving a guy who hasn't won a trophy a guarantee of 65 million, an 8 year contract, a large buyout and then absolutely no accountability as to how he build his first and most important staff. I actually hope the more we pay players, the more contracts become incentive based for coaches as there will be a money crunch somewhere. Wouldn't it be awesome if each coach made 35% of their current salary based on 0 wins, and that would reach 75% with a bowl, and 100% with a playoff performance, or 11 wins. Rhule seems like a good guy, but as a coach, he is less important than his coordinators and probably some position coaches. At some point reason will win out.

I see a upward trajectory with rhule

and I'm ok with someone paying 2 million for a 2000 yard rb...that would be a grand per yard

Rhule was never looking to replace Satt after 1 year, that's just a blatant mistruth. And the critique against buddy hires is very fair given what we've seen. Riley brought most of his staff here, guys he knew a long time, and it was a disaster. Frost brought nearly his whole staff over from UCF, and it was a disaster. And Rhule brought in people he knew from Baylor and Temple to coach the offense, and it was a disaster. In any coaching transition, there's a chance to hire the best available guy rather than your buddy who's been with you. When you don't take that chance to upgrade staff and instead make buddy hires, as we've seen, the track record of that actually working out is abysmal.

But he didn't "just go with Satt". He hired an NFL QB coach who has called plays for him before. MOST posters on this board thought Thomas would help. Maybe Dylan would have been a lot worse without Thomas. We'll find out a lot about Dylan and Dana today against Iowa when crowd noise is a factor.

Then after Dana said no. Why didn’t he find another? Why wasn’t Glenn the play caller then ?

Most on here were calling for Satt to have his play calling duties removed. I don't know if one of the reason's the play calls were coming in so slowly was because it was a team approach or what was going on there. At least one football writer has pointed out that Thomas's results as a play caller weren't much different that Satt's. It's clearly a case where "co" coordinators didn't work. Anybody who believes though that Dana wasn't offered the play calling duties after he's called his own offense for the past decade or more aren't being logical.
