Snow Day?

They did it last time. They called an entire day off in anticipation, and it snowed a little the night of the snow day.
Talking weather on a Sports Forum wtf.
Talking weather is something you do when you're 85 and bored stiff with nothing in your life.
You should love it; with cold weather comes frost, the thought of which, as we all know, gets you very excited.
All it takes is a forecast these days…
Those commercials are great. The latest with the guy cleaning his trash cans and the dude in the elevator.
I know every generation says this, but it'll be bullshit if kids get a snow day for probably what ends up being 6". Both in HS and at UNL we never had actual snow day and there were a few days where it literally snowed 12"+ and buses were getting stuck and weak as Harvey still wouldn't call classes. **** you Perlman!

I think that was the only time I remember them canceling classes.

I don’t see what the difference is between crying about this, or anything else the usual crowd whines about reading…. But oh well. Most adults can read things, and not melt down because it’s not what they want to see.
NE doesn't seem to get the blizzards like we got in the 70's and 80's as kids.

It just reminds me of the people who click on stories and comment about the Kardashians and then complain they are tired of reading about the Kardashians.
Depends on the wind. I don't think we are getting much wind with this. But if it carries a lot of moisture it could be hard to move, and with the warmer temps the gravel roads and such could be an absolute mess. I guess it kind of depends on where your district is. Rural or city.
Not a fan of Progressive, but those commercials are great!

We didn’t have busses for to and from school where I was from. It had to get pretty bad to call off school all day. Sometimes start was an hour or two later than normal. By that time the tractor Army usually had roads clear enough for kids to drive to school.
Big cities are in a tough spot with Winter weather. It’s absolutely crazy how often you see kids walking to and from school in shorts when it’s cold or snowy. I guess the time of “dress for the conditions, and “make sure you have a blanket and coveralls in the vehicle in case you get stuck and have to walk” are almost gone.

Only comment I would make in defense of not having "old school" administrators is that anytime there is dangerous or hazardous driving conditions you run the risk of students not being prepared to drive in that and they would wreck and be injured/killed. Nobody wants that to happen or have it be on their conscience. Let's face it, kids are not as aware of driving in good weather these days let alone in 6 plus inches of gooey shit. I can see why school is called off more often these days.
What sucked the worst were the words: Classes today but no bus service. All of us town kids had to go to school, but our country buddies were out sledding on the big hill. If we had cell phones back then, I know those b*st*rds would be texting me all day long taunting my *ss for being in school.
Can’t remember the year - maybe ‘94 or so? - but there was a major freeze + snow in Omaha that canceled Halloween

All of this snow measurement should be a reminder to everyone: as always , nobody tell the WAGs how much 6” actually is
Kids all have laptops now and can get assignments at home, so administrators nowadays are not going to risk the safety of students and bus drivers.
I like the one guy trying to fix the line. We don't need a line monitor. 😂
