How have we stacked up? Well, much better than most and much worse than we want. Guessing that Big Ten fans might ridicule us for our expectations but also guessing most of them are jealous of our B1G success. All this is for regular season conference games only.

Tied for 4th with Michigan, two games out of 3rd and forever out of 1st place (11 games). Michigan closed on us last year to gain the tie… aided by our miserable 3-5 conference record from 2015.
The money shot is trophies, right? So, how about one point for division championship, three points for the big trophy and, say, ½ point for division 2nd place?

Sixth place. File this under - Yeah, we knew that. Hey, at least we beat Michigan. But there sits Wisconsin with all the glory for the past six years. Shall we look at strength of schedule? Not pretty for the Badgers.
SOS. If anyone has a good working SOS calc I’d like to hear about it. What I did was simply count the number of games played against the 13 other teams. I did this for every team and awarded 13 points for each game played against the top team, 12 points for the 2nd place team and so forth. Did this for every team. Maryland and Rutgers are necessarily last b/c of only 25 conference games played while everyone else has 49. I left those two off the final reckoning.
And, yeah, Wisconsin is the runaway leader for easiest schedule.

1 ILL .... 369.5

9 PUR... 352.0

12 WI..... 328.0
Note that the top seven are a fairly tight grouping. The fall off begins with OSU and plummets to the depths with Wisconsin. And of course Iowa is second last. Good grief, these schedules have been badly out of balance.
Final note, MSU and Nebraska... placing well in the standings after slogging through the toughest schedules. Especially MSU for coming in 2nd in the trophy chase.
