FWIW... I was watching some Temple film a while back... I really liked watching their FB Nick Sharga, he ran really hard... After looking for a little more on him I came across the attached video that kinda explains Rhules mindset on single digits jerseys...

With huge roster turnover and massive amount of jersey number changes, it’s gonna take a while to recognize everyone out there.

It appears he has... TOS posted an article about it... It looks as if all the players who had a single digits last season have changed... Buford, Purdy, M Washington, Newsome, Hill, etc...

Lol…back in late 60s or early 70s, Bill Yeoman had some good football teams at the university of Houston. One year his three linebackers were #1, 2, 3.

So how do those single digit jerseys work? I know the players vote on them but how frequent is the vote? Can players lose their single digit jerseys every time a vote is taken? Are a certain amount set aside for offense and a certain amount for defense? Good questions to ask Rhule at his next presser.

Seems like a similar motivational practice to the Blackshirt tradition on Defense. I understand the motivational/pride factor but I also wonder if it also gets confusing if those numbers get swapped among players too often during a season.

I know the other teams have their scouting reports anyway but if you’re signifying, there’s something special about the single-digit guys doesn’t that kind of help the opponent
