SIAP: New GM Pat Stewart Salary

The Husker football administration. Never have so many administrators at a public institution had to do so little in order to make so much.
This whole deal is headed for a gigantic implosion. What electric car guru is going to come in and try to fix this for us?

I think the AD is letting the financial situation for football get out of control. We will see though if the added money being spent actually helps our W-L record on the field this year. If the W-L record skyrockets then yes it was worth it.

North Carolina is paying Lombardi 1.5 million to be the GM .USC is paying 1 million. Public institution? You are acting like this is tax dollar money.

Sorry but this is narrow minded outdated way of thinking.

If one supports the program the money indirectly comes from you. Even if it’s not easy to trace it back. It didn’t just show up out of no where. So yes it’s ok you don’t want it wasted on something that has little to no ROI. LOL. And more importantly you don’t want your time wasted on a team that is bad at business. And we have been awful at business choices so pardon those of us that have concerns

And to use the justification that “well USC and NC are doing it” is just foolish. A lot in businesses and industries do dumb crap. Doesn’t make it ok to follow then.

Will this pay off? Let’s see. I just hope he is looked at in the future for what he’s doing at NU and not what he did with the Pats or that he’s friends with Matt, and Matt’s too insecure to bring someone else/new in.

Thats a lot of money for just basic roster management. His accomplishments better be noticeable. If not, it was a dumb idea. And Nebraskas financial choices haven’t had the best track record.

I’m not a blind faith guy. We have plenty on this board that are. We saw it with Mike and Scott. A lot of the ones that support Matt said the same crap for Mike and Scott even when the writing was clearly on the wall

But not my point. People act like this money comes from the state like some universities get . Nebraska athletics get zero money from the state of Nebraska. And OPs on here are acting like we are overpaying grossly for this position. I gave examples showing we are not.

Hey no bad blood. We spend money on it by choice vs being forced to right? I just want my money I spend on entertainment to be worth it still. My whole life’s been invested in Nebraska football. I just tired of it not paying out for at least 10 years. It’s getting to a point that you go “why did I waste this beautiful fall Saturday on crap”

Hey no issues here. I an agree I sit in Memorial stadium every Saturday and a couple road stadiums a year. It’s been frustrating but it appears Rhule is trying everything to improve us and give us a better ROI . And not wasn’t the case with our last 2 coaches. Hopefully it works out.

Don’t spend money on Husker athletics. There I solved your problem.

Not going fight this. Cause you’re right. We don’t have to do it. I just want it back to being good is all. I work in finance in an upper management job. Husker sports is not only painful from a fans prospective but also as a business sense to see dumb hire after dumb hire. But ultimately you’re right and this is why Frost was fired, fear of fans finally giving up. Our fan base isn’t getting younger. Less and less instate kids care and we don’t reach out to national population like we once did. eventually when the older fans die off or give up, there will be no hope for Husker sports/football if something doesn’t get better soon. Brands die all the time in the US when the younger generations don’t catch on; Sears and KMart for example.

But Americans love a comeback. But it starts at strong leadership and vision. If we have that has yet to be seen. I’m once bitten twice shy with moves like this. It’s Just more of the same and off-season hype

In some regards it might actually be considered as an economic stimulus for Nebraska. It’s taking money invested in assets most likely invested elsewhere and putting it in the hands of a guy buying a house in Lincoln, dining in restaurants etc in the state.

University of Oklahoma just hired a GM 750,000 a year to start and $100,000 increase every year after that, though I don’t know for how long. Meanwhile, of course we’re broke. I get the separation between the athletic department money and academic money. But I’m not sure the business of the university is to be good enough that its football team is proud of it as our former president at OU said 60 years ago. And Ive loved Nebraska football since the first game I saw with my dad when I was 15.
