Shane Gillis destroying Saban on Gameday

The comedic timing of “the SEC never paid players, ever” was incredible.

It’s interesting, I loved Saban as a coach but find him not very interesting as a commentator.

Conversely, I thought Belichick was an insufferable twat as a coach but a very entertaining, fun commentator.

Read Belichick's biography. The guy was actually hilarious as a young man. But when he became an NFL coach while still in his 20's, he developed a serious persona and maintained a level of separation from his players (who were older than him and professional athletes) so that players would respect him. And over the years, Bill's just maintained that serious demeanor, at least publicly.

Watching Saban get fired up and act holier than thou is hilarious. I wish Shane would have brought up the Dodge dealership just to watch Saban squirm.
Maybe I'm uninformed but I think Saban has plausible deniability with regard to Alabama's cheating. Saban really believed in what he was saying during that discussion. He tried to recruit not just five star kids but high character high star kids. He preached delayed gratification. Turn down the bag of money from someone else because we can get you into the pros where the real money is. But that path to success changed with NIL and the joke that it's all become.

I agree with some of the things you said here, but there was blatant violations going on to get the best players HS to come there. He may claim ignorance, but he had his staff doing what was necessary to get kids in. There is so much photo evidence it is comical. Alabama is not alone, but Saban is pissy because he lost his edge now that all teams can pay players.

I like Saban and I actually think he was a great developer and coach, but he knew how to play the game and he left when the playing field leveled.

Two things:
Who is Shane Gillis?
Yeah, I think Saban is a great coach but that league( like most) full of cheater...don't be sanctimonious Nick

Gillis has become one of the biggest comedians in the game. His fame semi-started when he was announced to be an actor on SNL and some people dug up old clips of him doing Asian impersonations so he ended up being booted from the show prior to even starting.

He then went out and started doing his own sketch comedy - Gilly and Keeves. They are a riot. One of his sketches - Tires, Tires, Tires has turned into a season show on Netflix as well.

Fast forward he had a Netflix special- got into Rogan’s innner circle and now is being paid to try and bring Bud Lite back from oblivion.
