As opposed to the non-serious ones.
We often see very negative comments on RSS when a recruit appears to get "processed" by Harbaugh, Meyer or Saban, often very late in a cycle. I for one have viewed those comments with a grain of salt because since I've been following recruiting on internet sites Nebraska has really never been in a position to be picky about who it might accept, so it's easy to through stones when you yourself are not in a glass house. Let's take a hypothetical that could actually become a reality later this cycle at WR. We currently have KJJ and Jaevon McQuitty verbally committed, both 4 stars. Let's assume by the end of September that Tyjon Lindsey (4 star) and Maurice Bell (mid 3 star) have also given the staff their verbal pledge. By all accounts we have room for 4 WRs in this class but not 5 unless we fail to fill our numbers at other positions, which doesn't seem likely with the way this cycle has started. Sometime on or after January 15, 2017 5-star WR Joseph Lewis contacts Williams/Riley and wants to come on board.
My view is that you have to be sensitive to these young men but it's also a case by case basis with an eye toward taking the very best athletes you can acquire at each position. In this case, if Bell as a mid 3 star is the odd man out it seems unlikely that he wouldn't be able to land at a solid program at the last minute, plus kids decommit all the time these days - see Fitzpatrick - so you just can't turn your back on this kind of opportunity.
