Serious query: The P.I. gets called, what happens next ?

The odds of us making the 2 point conversion are probably slim and even if we do I think the odds of winning in OT were pretty slim. I would have loved to have gotten to OT, though. Just for the chance.

Yeah - I think we’d get one play from the 1 yard line. If we score a TD, we’d need to convert the 2 point try. Then we’d need to score in OT. So to answer the question - probably nothing good. But we earned the right to try. Refs choked on one of the more obvious DPI calls you’ll ever see.

We probably fail to convert on the next play. Or the conversion.

But that doesn't change the fact we should have had the opportunity.

If the game goes to OT, maybe the D shows one of the flashes they did a few times at just the right time. Probably not, but the point is, again, we should have had the opportunity.

Well, yes, it goes without saying that geometry is involved when examining the game of football. I'm soliciting your speculation on what happens if the refs call the game correctly.
Since the refs were letting them play and no pi was called earlier with banks in the end zone we settled for a field goal I will say they were consistent so no call. They sure as hell aren’t going to call it at the end of the game if they didn’t call it earlier, ok they call pi we still have to score at td which is very questionable we probably choke and don’t score

"Letting them play" is a ridiculous cop out.
Officials are there to referee the game. Enforce the rules. Sure a little subjectivity may occur, but how can a sport be played when rules aren't enforced?

Trying to imagine us on defense against Ohio St on a play like that.....yeah, that gets three different refs throwing flags

Thinking caps on ... brain engaged.
If you’re talking about the first one, we probably score a TD instead of a FG, take the lead and it’s a different game from there. Two blatant ones against Banks, both no-calls. I’m pretty used to it now.

We just need to continue to also outplay the refs every game and it’s all the coaches fault 🤡

we're the worst team in the country scoring TDs in the redzone, including going 0-3 yesterday

but, yea, sure

To answer the original question….we get one untimed down to win the game. So obviously we would false start, probably on a 6th year senior. Then a sack to end it.

Its the last play of the game. All they had to do was knock the ball down and its game over. The ball was underthrown and #21 clearly had position to knock it down at worst. Even without having his jersey pulled, no way does Banks get back in front of #21 to make the catch. Maybe Banks keeps #21 from intercepting it, but so what if he did? Game's still over. Ref isn't going to bail us out by calling a PI there. Nothing I have seen this year would lead me to believe Banks could have made a catch through #21 - jersey pull or not. Had the pass been more to the deep corner, Banks would have a shot without having his jersey pulled and maybe the ref calls a PI then, but if that was DR's intent, the pass was well short. My issue is with DR's comment that he wanted to give Banks a chance to make a play - DR apparently decided before the play that is where he was going, notwithstanding it was into double coverage - and/or he threw a very poor pass if the intent was to get it to the deep corner. His decision making and execution have been inconsistent at best, and really down-right bad too many times. I hope he makes huger strides in those areas before next September.

I think a lot of guys on here are thinking that we would have gotten the ball at the one yard line. College penalty would have been half the distance to the goal line and first down. We would have had one untimed down from maybe the 8-10 yard line. Can't remember what the line of scrimmage was on the previous down and won't look it up. I say DH would have called a pass play of some sort and nobody gets open. Pass rush, pass lobbed into the end zone, gets batted away. Game over.

Kinda not worth thinking about. Bad call but we had 5-10 game changing opportunities on D that would’ve make that possession unnecessary.
