Seems these last 15 years or so

the downfall started when we were the most dominant program arguably in the era of modern football - 3 national championships in 4 years, played for 4 NCs in 5 years - and we handed the program over to the running backs coach

I wonder when Nick Saban retires if Alabama will name the running backs coach the head man

My boy??? Sadly mistaken on that label...I suggest that you keep your eye on the ball (ahem, the ball is winning in case you needed it spelled out). Twist words/opinions it all you want, it's the only thing that matters in the long-term future success of the football program (Don't agree? think of it this way, if Riley wins 10 games this season you won't see a peep of a mention of our last coach ever anywhere and in general, there would be no reason to think he doesn't have the program headed the right direction...reality was that his team barely won 6 games and finished with a losing record. When did we start giving out freebie & participation awards around here??)

I'll admit I've only been following NU football for the last 25 years. IMO we've accepted a new low in fan expectations this past season. I said it earlier and others disagreed, but this is apathy and I've never seen it like it is now. I'll also re-state that Riley gets another 1-2 years before anyone even considers a replacement, so it's all moot for now and I wish him the best in the coming years...

I will break it down into chapter and verse, since you and your minions can't figure it out. "Winning" 9 games a year, every year, doesn't mean sheet if it comes with 4 losses. "Winning" 10 years a game, every year, doesn't mean sheet if it comes with 4 losses. Your boy could never, ever, shake the 4 losses. He could have coached here another 20 years and never lost fewer than 4 games a year. It might as well as have been 7 losses, because they both get us to the same place, irrelevancy. Remind me who is giving out participation awards? Apathy was BC against Okie State. Apathy was year 5+ of Bo. I actually have some hope for the future under Riley, which is the exact opposite of the last 3 years under your boy. I hope that you stop following NU football, because you don't have a clue. You think 9 wins is something special, even though it lead NU to fringe top 25 results and blowout losses on a regular basis. Go get your shine box.
