I wouldn't hold it against the kid if he did. We're definitely going away from the FB position as per comments from coach Frost. He should transfer. This is the downside that some players have to face with coaching changes. Of course, selfishly, it would be great to have his dad as a "fan" for publicity purpose, but he would probably benefit playing with a program that uses a fullback regularly.
He was recruited as a RB/fullback. He could be short yardage specialist but we're going to need to go probably 4 deep at RB this year and he has a shot at playing. It kind of depends what his long term goals are. IF he wants to be a coach some day, he might do well to stay at NU and soak up as much as he can from Frost regardless of playing time. IF he has NFL aspirations, he may want to transfer to a pro-style offense. This is a totally honest question because I didn't pay much attention to his recruitment - What is his skillset/style as a fullback? Did he come here expecting to carry the ball or is he a blocking specialist? I know Jano got some carries a few years ago and it was awesome to see, but I figured that was an aberration.
It just seems kind of strange to hear about a scholarship player transferring to be a fullback when almost no teams use a running fullback anymore haha. You would think his skills could translate around the field if he's a good tough athlete. Looks like his size could be an issue in changing positions though I guess. Is it just a question of whether he would find a spot in the new system, or is he THAT serious about playing a nearly-extinct position?
I find it interesting that lots of people want to kick him to the curb right away, with me let it play out, if he's a gifted athlete the coaches will find a place for him
I was unable to attend this week's CHAT. Do you see a role for Benjamin Miles?

Well, there is a sense of urgency to reduce scholarships given that we will be over our limit when the rest of the incoming freshmen arrive this summer. So, where else should one start than with a player who no longer has a defined position on the team?
That said, what you say still stands—IF he is a gifted athlete.
Probably a good idea to spend time with paying customers rather than free loaders lolYou posted this on the wrong board. Sean doesn't mingle with us peasants on the free board.

There is a difference between a SEC scholarship and a BIG scholarship. A BIG is for four years where as a SEC is notWas his dad more of a Saban (you don’t contribute- you gone) or a Riley type (stay all four years i.e. Adam Taylor)?
yes AND he can be a more than serviceable short yardage back. Good hands. Good blocking skills. Nice security blanket for a QB to have in pass pro or as an outlet. He'll have a role.Is there room on an 85-person roster for a special teams warrior?

Wrong. They are both offering 4 year scholarships. The SEC schools will find ways to persuade players to leave that they don’t want.
I believe that in 2015 the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12 and Notre Dame all voted to mandate 4 year guaranteed scholarships. What? You are completely wrong. I know this article is from 2014, but it clearly says that multi year scholarships have only been allowed by the NCAA since 2012. They were actually banned from 1973-2012.
