Frost came to Columbus, for a Chamber Event. Some notes for those who care.

-Jim Pillen of Pillen Family Farms introduced Coach Frost and Matt Davison.
-Frost hasn’t been in Columbus in 10 years.
-Frost said this is more people than some of their games in Orlando. (Around 1,000 people)
-Had big props for Pillen.
-He had no idea Pillen played football, bagged on him said his 5 month old is almost as tall as him.
-Also bashed Davison a lot all in good taste.
-Talked about being excited to be back in Nebraska.
-Talked about playing and growing up in Wood River/O’Neill/McCook. (I knew about Wood River and O’Neill but not McCook)
-Great Grandpa bought season tickets in 1947 in east stadium. Talked about how important that was to him.
-Didn’t come to Nebraska right away out of HS because he wanted to leave the state. His older brother Steve was offered a preferred walk on spot but the message never got to him. (A mistake on the recruiting department according to Scott?) Scott was upset about that and it beat him up.
-Frost went to Stanford and said he didn’t fit the culture at all.
-Talked about how everyone prostests on Stanford Campus.
-There were more people at the event tonight than the Stanford spring game.
-Said his first year was terrible at NU, black shirts picked on him.
-Earned the ESPY college play of the year for “the catch”. 1997 was the first year of the ESPY’S.
-Met Bill Moos in Philly after the Temple game.
-The leadership wasn’t right before, it has changed now.
-He got calls from every school in the country, talked to his staff on how to handle it. All sat in a room and talked about it, (including SEC jobs) the best choice for everyone was Nebraska.
-Been hard to watch Nebraska football the last 20 years.
-Talked about how hard it was stomach not getting a phone call when Riley was hired.
-Loves him some Frank Solich, was awkward kind of. Of course old fans cheered.
-Talked about how winning 10 games is good like Solich did and the grass isn’t always greener.
-Said the program is the in the worst shape it’s been in 40 years.
-Put a product on the field Nebraska fans will be proud off.
-Pillen said Frost had Bounds, TO and Frost around Nick Henrich (Burke LB) last week at practice. (Didn’t mention him by name obviously.)
-Talked about the 97 team and how it had 3 starters from Columbus. (one from Scotus, High and Lakeview. Everyone would have taken a backseat to win a National Title.
-Not going to get them all in Nebraska, but wants to get kids to walk on. Wants kids who want to be here. He knows going to LA and beating out USC for a LA kid will be damn near impossible.
-Talks about getting a great kid (on and off the field) and sometimes missing the best athlete for that kid.
