Score prediction: Huskers vs Ducks

You are going to score 49 or more to win this game.... I don't think Oregon can score that many against our D. I think our offense does!

55-38 in the Huskers favor!

I would love to see the Huskers pull this one out....say 31-28. If we don't show up, I wouldn't be shocked to see 45-17 Ducks.

31-28 Neb. Late stand seals the win

NU 33 OR 28

GBR!

We have to win this game and then have to look good against OSU this year. If for nothing else but to improve our recruiting...We're favored. We're playing at home. We have a senior quarterback. We have an experienced staff. We should win and we should be undefeated going into Madison...

NU: 38 OU: 31

Nebraska 38
Oregon 35

Michigan 33
Colorado 17
Go Blue!

Bravo gentlemen. I can see why jay-cheese liked revisiting this. He made the cut. But the winners seem to be tpmcg & vic.valiant. Congrats to all who got that close.

Thanks Boxes...really thought tpmcg post a few hours prior to kickoff may have been the best. I wasn't trying to pat myself on the back, but I do think during the thread there was an alarming amount of no confidence in predictions from a lot of our fans (even though we were favored. I get it, I've been disappointed too many times the last oh 10 years..). Always fun to read people's opinions and then see what actually happens.

Oh, I came close last week and was maybe 2nd. I don't care if you were patting yourself on the back. We should have fun on this board, not just rip each others to shreds. For one week we can all go "Yay!"

I had NU, 34-27. Not bad, but I should have listened to the Vegas boys for the spread.

...so happy we won.

So I counted up those who predicted Nebraska to win and those who picked Oregon to win, and I came up with 30 N and 20 O(plus a few others that I wasn't sure were serious picks or who didn't pick a winner). 60% picking us is not bad, though I might expect a little higher on a Husker message board. What was disappointing to me was not the number of people that picked Oregon to win, but the number that picked them to win by double digits or more. 15 of the 20 that picked Oregon to win picked them to win by at least 10 points, and 7 of those picked them to win in blowout fashion-i.e. more than 2 scores. I could understand picking them to win in a close one-I don't understand why people picked them to win easily. Either those people thought Oregon was massively underrated or had zero confidence in us. I hope those people have learned to put some confidence in this team now.

Agreed, and neither has any direct impact on the outcome of the game, direction of the season, or one's relative "fan-ness".

Loyalty is going to the game, cheering and supporting your team regardless of whether you think they will win or lose, e.g., the Cubs fans are finally being paid off after years of loyalty to a team that continually disappointed them.

Oh, and I haven't seen the ducks play this year yet, but I'm hoping with a young QB we might be able to force him into a few mistakes and squeek out a win. 35-31
Actually, cheeserunza practically nailed the score... Good job cheese!

unfortunately, I'll bet he thought we'd score 11 fgs and 1 safety and Oregon would get 3 tds (w. 3 extra points - little did he know) and 5 safeties, so in someways it wasn't all that close.

Exactly. We've been disappointed far too many times in big games over the years.

I have been telling my family & friends all summer that we have a chance to be very good this year.

After watching the first 2 games, I was still not extremely confident, even though Oregon "struggled" in its first couple games this year (compared to the past few years). With their offense, they can score 3 TDs in a matter of minutes if the defense is not prepared well enough.

I am still not sold on this year's Oregon team and think they will end up with at least 3 losses.

I still lack the confidence in our Husker team to announce to the world that I believe we will win every game except OSU. After the 9/10 win limit with Pelini and with last year's horrible endings, I will continue to rely on my 20/20 hindsight to know how good this team is.

This team has a ton of potential, but the game of football is more than just the potential.

I truly believe this team CAN win 11 games in the regular season, but will they?

After watching our fellow B1G brethren, I would say we have an excellent chance to do just that. No one on our schedule looks unbeatable by our team, except maybe OSU.

Hell, I think we can win every remaining game (except OSU) by at least 2 TDs, but I will believe it when I see it. Every time we feel emboldened by our football team, we lose a game that the fans think we should have won.

With all that said, this team better go out and flat out destroy 10 of the 11 remaining teams on its schedule.
