Couple of years ago the B1G made a schedule change that allows us to have a bye week this week.

The original schedule had us play @ Northwestern on Oct 8 th instead of playing them Sept 24, making Sept 24 our bye week...

Realized this looking at a older Press guide... Turns out this works out much better for us now that we have some key injuries on Offense and we have pesky Northwestern in our rear view mirror.;)

Our schedule is setting us up pretty damn good. A well timed bye week followed by Indiana(nice win against Michigan State but Ohio State is up next)and Purdue before heading into a possible wore down Badger team.

We are definitely in the drive seat!

At one point didn't we have Tennessee scheduled as a home and home in 2016-2017 instead of Oregon? While I certainly think Tennessee is beatable, and has had the bounce of the football go their way more than once already this season, UT would be a little taller order than Oregon at this point. That may end up in our favor as well.

Yes Tennessee asked us if they could delay the series till 2026@ 2027...Because of the game in Bristol they set up with Virgina Tech.

We may be worn down after playing Wisky and tOSU playing a physical Gopher team and a much improved Maryland team will be a very daunting task to win this Division, our last 5 games will be tougher too...

But we will be catching Wisconsin at the best possible moment for our divisional battle. It's looking like a win/win situation for us.

If Wisconsin loses to Ohio State then it really helps us out with the potential tie breaker scenario with a loss at Camp Randall.

We could go 10-2 with losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State and we could beat out Wisconsin for the West Title because of one game... A potential and probable loss @ Northwestern. They would end up with three conference losses and we have the title.

If we could beat Wisconsin at Camp Randall it'll basically it's over because of the tie breaker rule.

People are downplaying it now and don't realize it but these last two wins with Northwestern and Illinois are going to end up playing out huge for us!

we are winning the games we are supposed to
indeed the schedule has been soft --- wyoming is the only team we have played that currently has a winning record
Our highest profile win is against a 2-3 Oregon team that took us down to the wire at home

I think we are very similar in talent to Oregon we have just found a way to win

as much as people will hate to hear it .... thus far we are a carbon copy of the 2015 Iowa team .. some deficits but finding a way

Are we basically Iowa last year? We arent going undefeated and dont look real pretty when we win but we just keep doing enough to win every week? 10-2 or 11-1 is a real possibility

we are very much like 2015 Iowa
the difference is Iowa didn't have ANY tough conference games

no OSU, no Michigan , no MSU and a down Wisconsin team ... we have OSU and a better Wisconsin team

The no brainier is the Badgers last 5 games are more do able than us.

Your only fooling yourself it you think our last 5 games are not difficult to win.Plus they have us at home... The trump card.

I didn't say that. But the Michigan loss will be a huge help with us securing the West Title.

Neither Wisconsin or Nebraska will beat tOSU during the regular season... Be a huge upset if either did.

If we lose back to back games against Bucky and Bucknuts we can't afford to lose another game with @Indiana, Minnesota,Maryland and at Iowa... I hope to God we win all 4 of those games but if we played like we did for 3Q yesterday I would bet we will lose at least one of those games despite 2 being at home.

If we play like we did against Illinois we'll beat all them teams. The way we're playing in the 4th quarter can't be underestimated.

And the way it sits right now Wisconsin's game @Northwestern is tougher than any of the games that you have pointed out. Now if we beat Wisconsin then we're going to have to have a total meltdown not to win the West because of the tiebreaker rule. I'm just speaking facts here. I don't understand why you're being such a Debbie Downer about it when you should be happy???

I'm very happy up this point, but some of us are more realistic than yourself....

You drink a stronger class of red cool-aid more than the rest of us do.

How's it saying I'm drinking Kool-Aid when I'm stating Ohio state is going to be helping us by beating up teams were going to have to play the following week? Our two wins with the scheduling has really put us in the cat birdseat!

Who ever wins the game in Madison will be in the cat birds seat!

Wisconsin, Indiana and Maryland all play Ohio State the week before our game.

That's a HUGE advantage to us!

Wisconsin probably going to have three conference losses without including our game. And if they lose to us that takes them out of it. If we lose to Wisconsin and Ohio State for a tie breaker to matter we lose one more game. And I've already pointed out all the scheduling advantages we have right now.

As of this week...
Simply put Wisconsin's fighting an uphill battle while we're going to be fighting a downhill battle. And if it plays out like I think they're going to have to win the game in Camp Randall why we don't have to.

Don't forget about Maryland. At the beginning of the season, I don't think many people thought of them as being much of a problem. That doesn't look like the case now.

I guess Minnesota has a HUGE advantage when they play us? we play them after OSU

And thank you for pointing that out because i was going to get to that. They literally did us ever favor possible. The only thing that would have been the best scenario possible is if they would give us a bye week after Ohio State but the way it plays out we need the bye week now. So a little karma will be accepted! RollingLaugh

They already have one conference loss to Michigan. Ohio State's probably going to beat them... That's 2. And I'm calling it now Northwestern is going to beat a worn down beat up Wisconsin team. That's 3 losses. It's going to play out like everybody predicted at the beginning of the season with Wisconsin getting just beat the hell up.

I guess Minnesota has a HUGE advantage when they play us? we play them after OSU

...and we beat them last year so no urgency for payback. Maybe Minnesota is our TRAP game this year??? All I'm saying is we NOW have damn near every strategic advantage over Wisconsin and the West battle.

They could win their next 2-3 games.... And be 7-1 going into their games with @ Michigan and home to tOSU.

Maryland or Indiana could very well upset us and I wouldn't be surprised if we lost one of these two games.

Wisconsin plays Iowa the week before us .... get your shit straight

I threw them in there and I shouldn't of that's on me. But the whole point of our discussion is Wisconsin's six-game stretch...
@ Michigan State
@ Michigan
Ohio State
@ Iowa
Nebraska
@ Northwestern

Right now there isn't a team left on our schedule not named Purdue that does not worry me. I hope and expect our team to go 11-1 or 10-2 this year. But if we don't clean some things up we could also go 6-6 or 7-5. This Indiana game will be a key sign. If we can play better defense and slow down their offense it will bode well for the rest of the season.
