Jim and Nancy are lifelong Nebraska farmers from Central Nebraska. Their kids are grown and they are embarking on the last quarter of their wonderful lives. In their mid 60s, their existence is what we all hope and strive to become.
Every year, Jim's seed dealer gives him tickets to one Husker game. Jim always accepts the 11 am early season game for a couple of reasons. Nobody else wants those tickets, and secondly, Nancy plays the Organ at the local Zion Lutheran Church. She wants to be back home by a decent time.
Jim and Nancy are Husker fans by birth. But they aren't overly serious fans. Jim doesn't care about recruiting. He doesn't read articles. He doesn't even listen to Sports talk or watch ESPN. Hell, Jim doesn't even yell at the TV. But Jim and Nancy own some old Husker shirts purchased 7 years earlier at Alco. They do enjoy their yearly trip to Lincoln for a game. Jim also enjoys dinner at Texas Roadhouse in Grand Island on the way home from the game. Nancy thinks he prefers the Prime Rib to Football.
Anyway, when Jim and Nancy go to the game, they don't really cheer much. Nancy likes the band more than the game. Jim has a bad back, and hates standing. Nancy doesn't like how everyone stands constantly. Every year, they comment how the game wasn't as much fun as they thought it would be.
At least once a year, there is at least 1 Jim and Nancy game per schedule. Jims and Nancys from all over the State converge on Lincoln.
So Sunday morning, when this board goes apeshit about the crowd being quiet and sitting on their hands for the Northern Illinois game, make sure you cast blame where its due.
Blame it on the Pioneer Seeds dealer.
