Sarrell and Stanford

Saw a recruiting report yesterday saying that they may go there together but who knows. Seems like recruiting reports vary so much on Sarrell. The one from Rivals I saw listed his top 3 as Stanford, Notre Dame, and Washington. Didn't even list Nebraska, but then keep hearing we are still in it. I hope Nebraska is and really want this guy, but not going to hold my breath.
If it comes down to it, can't one play LT and the other play RT and both be dominant?
When your graded as a top 3 LT I would have to believe they both feel like they can beat out the other for the LT. Man we need Line help on both sides. Need it more than a Politician needs votes.
I would imagine whoever loses the starting LT job would slide over to RT. Also, according to the Stanford website, they only have two tackles on the roster.
IMO he would possibly allow us to slide Gates back to the right side if he signed with NU.Unlike
exactly what I started to post then thought better of. Farniok and Sarrell at tackle for 3-4 years would be sweet. Gates is a guard/emergency tackle at the next level IMO.

as much as he likes Cav I don't think he is going to Nebraska

Nebraska is also known for having the best academic support for athletes in the country. Honesty, I don't think Sarrell ends up here either, but there are reasons he may like Nebraska.
Just saw the video for Foster Sarrell Army Bowl Practice and he went up against the best D-Ends in the country - Jordan Williams, Chase Young, & Jarez Parks, hopefully he pulls a surprise and commits to the NU. And not only are Stanford and Washington better schools than NU academically, they also, right now, have better football programs than we do. The only reason he is even considering us is Cav. I doubt that alone brings him here, unless the prospect of immediate playing time as a starter from day one is a factor in his thinking.

there are a ton of reasons to like Nebraska, but for a high school student that is academically gifted enough to attend Stanford academics isn't one of them.
The academic support services are very good but this program is no longer unique to Nebraska. Furthermore these programs are primarily designed to keep players who are academic risks eligible and progressing toward a degree. The program isn't designed for academically gifted students.
I hope we get him but if academics is going to play a significant role in the selection process Nebraska finishes a very distant last to Stanford, Washington and Notre Dame if they are in the picture.
Unfortunately I have to agree. If NU was ever under serious consideration, our late season collapse probably dropped us out.
Stanford is sooo far ahead of Nebraska academically it is almost silly to mention the two schools in the same breath. Stanford is in an altogether different academic stratosphere from Nebraska. And I repeat: Stanford also has the better football program right now as well. No brainer of a decision as far as those two factors go. Now maybe the Cav factor trumps all else. And maybe, as I said above, the prospect of immediate playing time is a factor. But let's not fool ourselves. The fact that we have a strong academic support program for athletes means nothing in this case. I really doubt we land this kid.
That said... precisely because many important factors point to him not picking us, if he DOES pick us it will be a real testament to Cav/Riley and their ability to recruit.
If you want to be a world class Investment Banker, Lawyer, Tech entrepreneur, or surgeon, yeah Stanford's hard to turn down, I doubt he would be spending much time on football then.
Believe it or not, there are actually some stellar high school football players who are also academically gifted/oriented and can manage to excel at both football and school.
Stanford is one of the best schools in the world. Not just the United States. So yeah... I think they have a recruiting advantage over us if academics are of critical importance to this kid. But I guess that is the question at hand... just HOW important are academics to this kid? So your point is on target I think IF the kid primarily wants to focus on football with academics as just an added bonus. Maybe someone on here with better knowledge of this kid's preferences can enlighten us

What the institutions offer academically slightly outweighs the football program. Sarell is planning a degree in finance. He boasts about having seen “The Big Short” 10 times and counting.

Yes, and the CBA just built a vey nice new building last year. Still, I think that Stanford/Washington will be the choice.
Well Nebraska has this going for them, and Washington and Stanford do not

Well it sure looks like Stanford qbs aren't going to be hit for next 3-4 years as it seems Sarell is Stanford bound. Was really hoping to get this guy.
Sarrell really liked Nebraska on his visit and obviously the coaches. But man no way you can turn away Stanford. Also UW with the success they have had this year. He will stay on the Coast which really shouldn't be that surprising to anyone.
Not knocking the staff at all, just hard to pull a kid from Washington to come to the Nebraska, play in the B1G, turn away educations like Stanford or UW.
