RRT Husker... Adam Taylor..

He only played on special teams. Not sure why he did not carry the rock. He should be in the rotation.

We need a back and I want to see Taylor get a legit shot, kid is a stud if he is healthy. If he hasn't full recovered I understand that maybe he has fallen back but give the kid a chance.

I think the 1 thing that jumped out at me more than anything is how much we miss #Abdullah. these are the exact types of games where #Abdullah thrived, getting those 2 or 3 hard yards after contact and helped our team beyond words can describe. every RB we put on the field is gonna look average compared to #Abdullah. i think the biggest hurdle we face with our RBs is that is appears they go down somewhat easy after contact, because none of them have the physicality and strength of #Abdullah

he was the better back vs the two they signed that yr. give the kid the Rock and you will see!

Taylor is a dot the I back.. He's not flash and needs a entire game to wear on a team. He's not the type of back you can throw in and make a spectacular play. He's a grind and pound guy..

I would start Wilbon then rotate in Cross, Taylor and Newby in that order but that is just me. Newby starts because
he has the best hands for pass catching. I have not been impressed by Newby carrying the rock.

That's why LSU offered him.
Correct and then pulled it, as did others.
Simple question, he's 3rd or 4th string for Neb??? It's not like Ameers ahead of him. Just stating the obvious. We don't have a true stud back and won't unless we recruit one. Not holding my breathe

Taylor is too slow. Same reason OU, A&M, Texas never offered him. That was before his knee gave way. Abdullah is going to be so missed and irreplaceable!!

OU offered him as did Bama, Baylor, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Wisconsin. Not sure they agree with you.

Riiiiggggght!!!! OU did, like others pulled it. That's all I'm saying. Teams were worried about his speed and getting too bulky. OU took Ross instead. Obvious right call.

You know the old saying. 4th string running back is always the most popular player on the team.

I'm not sure how you can really judge any of the running backs with how poorly the offensive line played in the run game. For the most part, the running backs got what was blocked. Wilbon gained a few yards on his own, but otherwise, the lack of run production falls on the shoulders of the offensive line. Beyond that, I question how big of a priority it is for this staff.

This, although for the next round I'd rotate Taylor in before Cross, since Taylor hasn't had a look yet.

Ameer isn't coming back. Why trash a kid that hasn't even had a chance yet. You seem very angry.

I would just like to see him get a few series in a game when it was on the line. If it doesn't work out then we'll all have it out of our systems. In that situation in state championship game he did a great LP versus KSt imitation. Put team on his back when he was all they had. LSU had him #1 target until knee injury. Maybe that changed everything. I'd still line to see him get a shot. Not impressrd with anyone ahead of him except maybe Wilbon.

I still think Adam Taylor is in a Mike Riley/Keith Williams type dog house... For something.

He was sharing carries with Newby in the Spring and according to everyone I spoke with in the Spring, out performed Newby.

He's not hurt. It makes sense that Wilbon has stolen carries. He's a great player. But Taylor going from basically a co #1 to #5 in one Summer isn't really logical.

Newly has had many chances as has Cross, neither has shown a lot to me. In this offense you need someone who can run between the tackles and one who is the outside threat perhaps, Wilbon. Give Taylor the rock one game at least and let's see, none of the others showed much IMO.

Style of play seems to be part of why he's not on the field. How many times were we under center?

100%. If we are going to be by committee, let's find out who the best man is. Start Wilbon, then mix in AT and Ozigbo for the next game. You never know, one of them may be a gamer. It's funny how half of these fans haven't seen AT play, and they act like he is Cross. Spring Game is not a real game.

Given recent comments I would assume the running back rotation is going to get much tighter, not spread out.

Should be Wilbon & Ozigbo

Newby & Cross should be benched
Don't know about Ozigbo, but from my view the RB position is wide open. I think Wilbon deserves to start. I like his burst and ability to make guys miss. Cross would be the other back I would alternate in-- but I would want to see Cross running mainly straight ahead. Then Newby backs up Wilbon and Taylor backs up Cross. So it's a two back rotation with a chance for as many as four guys getting the ball in their hands at some point. I think a Mike Corgan approach and put a kid on the sidelines if they fumble or make a huge mental error. Keep everyone focused that way.

Wilbon, in the brief look I've had at him through one whole game, seems to have the most upside.

Newby just doesn't play as fast as he is. He's not attacking enough. He's like the guy you see every preseason in the NFL always trying to make the "perfect run" so he misses his shot to cut it up and get 4 or 5 and winds up getting strung out for no gain.

Both Langsdorf and Wilbon have indicated pass blocking is an issue, so I would highly doubt that Wilbon is the solo back every down. Especially considering the fact we throw the ball more than we used to. I think a narrowed down rotation would be the best available compromise, we don't have to play every back we have.

As isual...it's the guy NOT playing that is the more popular of the group with some people.

What makes people think he ISN'T being given a chance? Perhaps the 3 ahead of him are just better and have shown it in practice?

Are you saying that the coaches refuse to play the best back?

No, but after seeing their starter Newby underwhelm yet again, you have to wonder if they have found the "best back" for game situations. So some would like to see how a couple of others would show. And before that first game, I think HCMR said that Taylor was among the backs who "all would get carries", so it isn't unreasonable to wonder what he could do.

I believe there are practice players and gamers, anyone who has played at a high level knows this. I sucked in scrimmages because I didn't really care vs my teammates, totally different in a real game. Plus I did t want to embarrass my buddies Smokin

IF you cared about playing you would practice better. IF not then you sit. Just the way competition works.

Right and it just feels like there is something going on with taylor not getting any carries. I have no knowledge on this issue but it just seems like there is more to story
