That was because Holm is an expert at controlling the pace of a fight. She is by far the best fighter Ronda had ever fought, with no disputing of that now obviously. An elite level striker is a threat to anyone they face. Look how long Anderson Silva got away with a mediocre ground game because of his striking skills.
This fight reminded me a lot of Silva Vs Franklin. Franklin a well-rounded fighter who was walking through the competition at Middle weight and held the title for awhile. On his way to becoming an all-time great.
All of the sudden here comes Anderson Silva, a fighter with great striking skills, known to fight followers around the world, but not so much in America. Out of nowhere Silva came in and wrecked the champion and made it look easy.
Foreman actually went bombs away against Ali. Ali had a strategy to burn foreman out. And Foreman's strategy would of succeeded against a normal human being. You can't even describe what Rousey did against Holly except fight with a completely incoherent game plan.
I think Holly's takedown was because Rousey burned herself out being so wild and out of control.
I am a Rousey fan. She didn't seem like she wanted to fight. Tate wasn't the only out of the ring tough guy to talk trash even though they got their ass handed to them by her in it. Rousey has sort of transformed herself into a professional wrestler and feels the need to play the heel before all of her fights. Her toughguy persona has rubbed most the wrong way, and they were more than happy to rub it in her face when she lost. I have a feeling she will return with a vengeance, but perhaps with less theatrics.
Cyborg was also talking ish. She's the one fighter though, that can probably back it up. I'm wondering if Holly will take the fight with her, if she signs with the UFC. I'm almost positive Holly will, and IMO she has the much better chance of winning than Ronda does. Like her nor not Cyborg Santos is still the best in womens MMA until someone proves differently.
