Ron has toned down the rhetoric many were against this time around in his employment. I read an article a couple of years ago where he said he regretted some of his approaches biblically ie homophobia. Mention Ron....and there is a mixed response by fans. But I think he brings much experience to the staff and was worth keeping in a support role.

I didn't appreciate him proselytizing in Omaha in front of the City Council and using Memorial Stadium as his home address. As if the university agreed with his anti-inclusive rants. The U does not.

I do like that we have a longtime staff member on board who recognizes, and even remembers, the players of the past. That's important.

I think people sometimes forget you don't have to agree with somebody on every single thing to like em and think they're a great dude. Ron Brown is a great dude...I'll leave his views on gay marriage between him and the lord...
Good post. We’ve gotten pretty good in general of villainizing people for a specific stance or belief no matter how much good they may do elsewhere. This is true for both sides of the aisle, btw.

Ron has helped mentor two head coaches in the last 5 years. Scott Frost and Mickey Joseph. Neither of those show confidence in Ron Browns worth lately.

That simply may mean he isn’t the best at mentoring guys making way more money than him in positions of authority over him with a certain amount of arrogance…

And isn’t he more of a mentor to players, not coaches? Not sure what his title is…

OP thank you for putting the “don’t care” option up

Every democratic election should have this and it would win a lot of the time

What do you mean by anti-inclusive?

Really weird comment. You think Scott’s arrogant ass would be open to mentorship? You can offer all the advice you want. If a person isn’t open to learning, even a little bit from you, then that’s on them.

He was on staff with Pelini too. If it weren’t for TO, Ron brown would be a nobody

Exactly! He’s entitled to his opinions. He’s done so many positive things for the U of Nebraska and the kids that have come through there. I think you have to look at a person in totality instead of letting one thing about them dominate your opinion of them.

I know this goes without saying, as most regular posters know this already, but siryacht has all the earmarks and qualities of being a troll. He has started several threads after just joining that are shady at best, trying to start stuff. He knows the divisive issues to raise.

2 ways to look at that. You can certainly see that they both needed mentoring. And did they listen? Everyone has a right to choose their own path.

There's a saying, goes something like "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

I generally like him but I think he has taken on a mythical status. I really don't care if they fire him and replace him with a guy who does pagan rituals on the 50 yard line. As long as we start winning big again.

Good that Ron Brown has been retained, and Vince Guinta is yet to be assigned a position since he's still here.
He's the RC bud. Same position he held under the last staff, and why? Because there isn't a better recruiter on the staff than him and has a proven track record a mile long and learned from some of the best in the indusry including 1 Bill Callahan who was already in the CFB recruiting Hall of Fame when he got here.

Director of player support and outreach. Not sure what that actually entails but my interpretation would be he'd be a great fit if it means how I interpret the position
