it pains me to say this, but we may be officially done. Bo needed to go, and we had a great opportunity to make a splash. We hired Bike Smiley. If we can Riley in two years, it will be looked down on because we are a revolving door. Also, I'm not sure we have the money people think we do to land a big name. A blue blood? Yes, but we are now an after thought. This blows!!! Just really sucks....

We've be trying to do an impersonation of everyone else for 15 years.

We're still mixing up the same bad cocktail.

I agree with what your saying but I am trying to find the silver lining. Nebraska just has to much going for it to be down for good. Even Bo had some success. Coach Riley deserves at least 3 years

Michigan did something to fix that and unless you expect Nebraska to do the same after this season then I wouldn't hold my breath on the program trending up like Michigan has. Also, we are not almost 6-0, we're 2-4..

sadly have to agree that h3 (what is he now - is it "luckie" ?) is often right....but he's such a pessimist that I try not to pay attention, alas....He loves Meechegan and we all can easily see that Michigan is now resurgent and we're going down the toilet.....Who's in charge here?

Yes, Michigan was dismal during the Hoke era. When a change was made Michigan didn't go on the cheap and make a lackluster hire by hiring an average coach like Riley. Michigan stepped up to the plate and paid Harbaugh the big bucks. We got exactly what we paid for. Mediocrity or worse

Does not have to be a Nebraska man but that would help. They just need to understand our history, what type of kid you can get in the state, bring in the type of kid you cannot find here and build from there. Dr Tom did that better than anybody.

It's getting close. Long time ticket holders that I know are not renewing next year. Why pay the extra bucks when u can get a ticket any time u want. Last night a buddy offered up his 10 msu tix and not a single person wanted them.

I do not think the program is dead but NU fans may have to let go of the superiority complex that you are one of the top programs in the country. IMHO, you are now like Iowa(and most schools) a developmental program. Some years you will be very good, some years very bad but most years some place in the broad middle. Not trying to be a smart guy, just stating an opinion.

I say keep CMR for one more year and if he gets things turned around let him stay. If not hire a real search committee and hire a young, aggressive coach who will put in the time/effort to make Nebraska a national power again. Coaches who fit that description include
1. Mark Hudspeth HC UL-L- super intense, energetic recruiter good game day coach with a ton of upside.
2. Doc Holliday HC Marshall Not as young as some other candidates but really good coach.
3.Tom Herman HC Houston awesome offensive mind coached at Ohio State so he knows the Big 10
4.Justin Fuentes HC Memphis Turned Memphis into a winner, enough said

It's not dead, but the coach has to run his system.. no more of this trying to appease the fans.. run what you know, be who you are, and don't flinch..

How do you do this? you have to sit TA for starters.. play all freshman if you need to.. but playing the older guys just cause they are older isn't going to fly anymore.. play the best guys that fit their system, and get rid of the players that are loyal to the old regime.

Running a pro style system will be good for the program and recruiting.. these guys have to stop appeasing the run first crowd to have any shot at success.

No. It does not have to be a "Nebraska man". It just sould be a "Nebraska identity", however. There is no fruit on the Nebraska coaching tree right now, anyway.

Harbaugh somehow making Ruddock serviceable and the rest of the talent he inherited is now getting coached. Somebody posted a chart of Bo's last few recruiting classes on here. It's disgusting how many of those guys haven't contributed or are not even here.

You are correct that Harbaugh walked into a ton of talent, but that guy is not a "good" coach. He is an excellent coach and one of the best. Crazy yes, but dude can flat out coach/.
