I remember his great defenses at Nebraska in the 70’s. He will always be a Husker in my mind. Rest in peace coach Kiffin.
He and Mick Tingelhoff were high school teammates at Lexington in the 50s. What a team that must have been
1957 Lex team, unbeaten and allowed zero points all aeason
Sad....and I'm feeling for Lane. Losing dad is not something i've had to deal with yet and I'm sure Lane is hurting. I know I will be when it happens
Just learned of this, Monte at times might not getting more credit than he deserved but he was a key defensive assistant during the early national title years just like TO was for the offense..

I was surprised that he never landed a head coaching job. He seemed like a good dude.
He was a head coach at North Carolina State for two or three years. He did not do well.
I had an uncle that played With him. He Was a very good fiery defensive coach. Maybe that’s why Devanny Liked him. His son was born in Lincoln.
