Rhule on the Pink Ribbon

Given his charisma in settings like that, it seems weird to me that he isn't a more dynamic recruiter...maybe he'll prove that wrong in time, it's just strange.

IMO Criticism is warranted whenever their is something to criticize. These aren't kids just playing for fun anymore, when people decided to start accepting millions of dollars to play college sports, and coaches are getting salaries above 10 million, then you get to take the criticism.
I would love to follow you around for a day … I’m sure there is plenty of material to criticize.

he's done pretty well on recruiting considering he took over a Midwestern dumpster fire that hasn't won anything of note since these recruits have been alive.

Listened a 2nd time. Goosebumps. Again.

Don't put that man in front of a mob. Chaos would ensue.

Were you hanging on to Scott Frost and Riley up until the end? I mean, when is it okay to be critical of things that are deserving of criticism?
That's actually a fair question, but you bust on Rhule for his recruiting chops and yet......

He walks into a dumpster fire of a recruiting class but turns in a top 25 class.
He has taken a group of players who have been beat down for years and who played like it, and has made them believe.
He and his staff crisscrossed the state and began repairing relationships with high school programs that were alienated by previous staffs for years.
He and his staff took a fresh look at the players and immediately began moving them around to additional fits.
He has pulled players who were ignored for years and made them into starters.
And this guy that you find it so easy to fault is about to get NU to six wins and a bowl for the first time since 2016.

I mean, its okay to criticize him. Sims stands out. But calling him out for his recruiting results is just irrational.

Except it's not. There is NO WAY to get where this AD sees us going without very top flight recruits. There is no evidence since the CFP started that a program can win a title without a top 5 recruiting class. Why else are we spending all this money UNLESS that's what they want to accomplish? If you can't get the Raiola's of the world, you will not get there. You won't get there with diamonds in the rough, you won't get there with 5 star heart, and you won't get there by wanting it more than the other schools. You have to reel players in and keep them coming in when last years studs leave for the portal. If we just want to win 9 games a year, you don't need to spend 700 million to do that, this is about bringing that trophy back to Lincoln and it will be successful or fail with recruiting. If we don't get top flight guys in this class, then the earliest is next class and the earliest someone like a QB will make a difference is 3 years from now, Rhule better win now if he wants to make it that long.

Actually, it is irrational to expect a first year coach walking into what I laid out above to come up with a top five class, ESPECIALLY since Nebraska has been wandering in the desert for so long.
It’s like he was frozen in time in the 90’s and woke up and can’t fathom why we aren’t getting top 5 recruiting classes.
