The coaches ARE recruiting it... Sarrell and Filliaga anybody? The targets have to accept. Hoping to see that happen...
At the same time, have to be somewhat impressed, at least, with last year's class... need to do it every year but we still can this year.
Don't forget I think there are 2 maybe 3 future studs that are redshirting this year. I think Farniok (sp?) starts at rt until gates is gone. Wilson and Raridon may also start and at the very least I think will see some snaps. Filiaga or Foster would be awesome to get both though but I think theres a better chance with Foster than Chuck.
I will be ecstatic if we get either of those guys.
Sometimes I need to remind myself to be patient, especially on the OL. You bring up a good point about last year's recruits. Plus throw in a healthy Foster.
Decker, Barnett and Gaylord were all highly rated as well. Some talent there. Time for some of these guys to step it up. Farniok, Raridon and Boe Wison are studs. Brokop has talent too. I think Sichterman, Broc Bando and Jaimes are 4 stars on other sites. Mix them in with Gates, Farmer and Foster and put together a solid 2 deep.

In the past month we just got two decent offensive lineman from Nebraska who have agreed to walk on here. I get your point, but if we restore the pipeline and are sending 2-4 guys to the pros again every year, more guys will be willing to pass on a scholie to a lesser school to walk on here and take their shot
Drinking Kool-aid or are you Coach Cav? On no site is Brando or Jaimes a 4-star. Broc is low rated on every site & he plays at a school that gets amazing pub, so it's not like he's under the radar. You drawl your own conclusion there.Only on Scout has Sichterman a 4 star.
The O-line recruiting is probably the most disappointing out of any area since Riley's arrival. Barnett Is Cavs only rivals 4-star he's landed in 3 years. The others that NU has landed in the last few years were landed by the old staff. And Barnett may never play. Cav only plays 5 right? He's not going to play over Farmer or Foster, so you do the math at guard with his age/grade. Farniok is his Best recruit but it's not enough.
A team can miss out on some spots in a recruiting cycle but never O-line. always need more. I don't mean to be doom and gloom but I'm not going to sugar coat it or blow smoke up your ass. coach Cav is the weakest link. Landing a 5-star OT would be big for him and may give him a jolt he needs. I'm hoping it works out for him but there's a million red flags right now to show us that he needs help

D-Line should be the same.
It all starts in the trenches. That in itself might be the reason NU has gone so many years without a conference championship.
Great teams have great lines.
But but but Wisconsin and Iowa recruit nothing but 2 star local kids and and and that's how we have to build our team. And TO, back 20 years ago, he provided the blueprint and top offensive linemen are built not recruited. You just need to redshirt them, use them as scout team members for three years, then let them play in games the last 2 years. That's how it's done.
I have learned to respect your posts; not just the kool-aide ones. The only play 5 thing; hardening of the attitudes is not a good thing in a coach. I think Our d-line is going to be ok in a short period of time.
