I would assume since they have a hell of a lot more Mexicans in those states they would have more and better Mexican restaurants.I stand by that comment. Go to Texas, California, other states have BETTER Mexican than we do

I’m no expert on the subject but bbq is more a culture than just a place to eat, I agree with you, I’m jealous of areas like the Carolina’s and Deep South, that food looks incredible on food shows. He said better. He’s not wrong. We don’t need more Abelardo’s taking over every shelled out Wendy’s, and abandoned Dairy Queen in town. La Mesa is comically bad.
For this being a beef and pork state, our barbecue scene is pretty weak.
I think when I lived there it was called Tastee In and Out....?There was Murphys and the original right next to each other owned by the same people. Long gone.
I don't care if the owner is an Iowa fan, I stop there first thing when I get to town.Except the owner is a POS I don't care to donate too.
When I was a kid, they were the go to. We loved how you had a phone at every table that you ordered through. It was fun watching the help take the order and move around like slugs. My dad liked to time them. Sometimes it was an hour before some neighborhood teenage girl showed up with the meal.King's Food Host.
Just kidding.
Absolutely this..A Portillos would Rock for Nebraska... we're just now getting them down here in Texas
Viscesnos is very good. AUTHENTIC Italian. The next table usually looks like a mafiosi family. Not bad prices either.Lincoln definitely needs some restaurants
Gus's chicken? Never heard of it. What region of the country. So this chicken sammie thread has got me thinking.
What restaurants have you been to in other cities that we need to get in Omaha?
I’ll be in favor of:
Gus’s fried chicken
Habit Burger
Epic Burger
Whataburger
Leeann Chin
I've never had Korean fried chicken, how's it compare to karaage? Even some lovely cheap Lawson station karaage?need a Bonchon
Haven't had karaage so i couldn't really compare. But Korean fried chicken is really good, double fried and usually served two-style (spicy pepper and garlic) and best with beer of course.I've never had Korean fried chicken, how's it compare to karaage? I went a different way home tonight on my way to pick up dinner. Noticed that they are breaking ground for a Portillo's in South Arlington. Small world.I'll add Portillo's to the list. I was surprised Minneapolis has some. I strangely do think Virtuoso in Benson/Omaha has better italian beef subs tho.
Arlington, VA?I went a different way home tonight on my way to pick up dinner. Noticed that they are breaking ground for a Portillo's in South Arlington. Small world.
Javi's & El Alambre are great. He said better. He’s not wrong. We don’t need more Abelardo’s taking over every shelled out Wendy’s, and abandoned Dairy Queen in town. La Mesa is comically bad.

I’d prob eat there 5-10x a year if Omaha got oneI went a different way home tonight on my way to pick up dinner. Noticed that they are breaking ground for a Portillo's in South Arlington. Small world.
I cannot remember the name of the place. It might be Taco Cabana? Either way, we NEED better Mexican Restaurants in Omaha

Well Christ when you just name the lames and the chains yea…those suck. Go to Guaca Maya on 33rd and L, Isla Del Mar or El Dorado’s on 24th, in that order. The DeLeon’s in South O is the best one and pretty damn good especially for late night munchies.
I personally do not know of another Chicago style deep dish pizza in Omaha other than Pizzeria Davlo, which is amazing, but we need more of that. If someone could name another spot I would check it out tomorrow.
Lina's is just as good as Abelardo's. I think they are the same family. Very reminiscent of the great taco shops near Camp Pendleton like Roberto's, Colima's and the like.He said better. He’s not wrong. We don’t need more Abelardo’s taking over every shelled out Wendy’s, and abandoned Dairy Queen in town. La Mesa is comically bad.

Love Portillo's and Al's Italian Beef was also pretty amazing.A Portillos would Rock for Nebraska... we're just now getting them down here in Texas
I think I had Gus’s in Austin and Nashville. Whataburger is primarily a Texas chain but they are in Kansas City now due to Mahommes. The family sold them to a PE firm so I’m assuming they will be more expansion. I love Whataburger!!! Gus’s is amazing too!Gus's chicken? Never heard of it. What region of the country.
Whataburger? California?
McDonalds level food at old McDonalds prices. I might be thinking of something else.
I’m seeing 6 years ago. Then they kept teasing until 2021, still nothing.Didn't omaha win the vote for a Giordano's about ten years ago. Then it never happened.
Mmmm just head south at 24th an L. Some of the best authentic Mexican restaurants aroundI cannot remember the name of the place. It might be Taco Cabana? Either way, we NEED better Mexican Restaurants in Omaha
Nope, just oppresses & exploits illegal immigrants for his profit.I don't care if the owner is an Iowa fan, I stop there first thing when I get to town.
Yeah, I know what was going on. Didn't they clean all that up when they temporarily shut them down? Did they catch them again?Nope, just oppresses & exploits illegal immigrants for his profit.
I went to a lot of Texas Rangers games there in the early 70's. Got to spend a little time in the stadium hoosegow for buying beer for my Air Force buddies when I was underage. LOLI live in Arlington, TX.
I loved the ol' tin can. You could park for free nearby, cheap bleacher seats where you could watch the drunks fight, and those nachos. We used to bring binoculars for girl watching.I went to a lot of Texas Rangers games there in the early 70's. Before that location was Pontillos it was Hong Kong Pizza King. Believe it or not, it had great pizza. Only place I have ever seen where you could order a pizza with an egg roll! When I first read this I was thinking about this place in Lincoln - back in the day.

I'm going to assume you're serious, though I suspect you may not have been.A vegan bbq place would be nice. Nothing quite like bbq tofu.
